Just wondering what you guys think of the typhoon? Are they reliable and robust?Purely a race quad or is it any good as a trail quad.
My 13 year old has an ltz 90 but i can see it's suspension has limitations sorta tossin up selling it while i can still get good bucks for it and going for something else.
He will most likely not race.
Opinions appreciated _________________ I am old and wise because i survived young and stupid |

13 yrs old? go a blaster for sure as thats starting age for a junior to race a blaster so cant see why any 13 yr old couldnt ride one recreational
yes would cost you double for a good blaster but reliability would double too
just imo thats what i would do _________________ black covered in 5.7 powered oversize quad

I dont know the Typhoon, but if it is a "cheap" Chineese import, I would stay away!!
Always better to go for your known makes ... Suzi, Yammie, Honda and Kawa. You get heaps of spares and "go faster" goodies and a lot of dealer support. I have found that these imports have limites (if any) backup support, should anythinbg go wrong ...
Blaster is a good bike ... just let the little guy practice the gears before any sort of long technical ride. Also get the lad a tennis ball to squeeze, to strengthen his grip and hand ... helps with the changing gears.
Just an opinion ... use it, dont ... up to you!! _________________ Mikey got 3rd in the Nationals!!

hey Glen. the typhoons are definatly on the good end of the chinese scale but as has been previously suggested that for a 13 year old you should probalbly look at something like a Blaster or Raptor 250 cos thats going to last until he's ready for a full size quad. if you want to go the typhoon because he's still phiysically small enough for that size quad it'll will hold up to the sort of stuff we ride on generally (I've been racing one all year without any drama's) _________________

just my thought but if hes probably not going to race wouldnt a 300ex be better than a blaster??
I think 300's are easier to learn on and a bit more plusher for trail riding, and if you are looking for just a small step up- may be a suzuki or honda 250, as you can just hop on and ride those things |

That is probibally a better idea!! 4 strokes seem to have a "nicer", smoother power band ...
But I guess it depends on the size of the kid! _________________ Mikey got 3rd in the Nationals!!

After trying several of the chinese chaepies I'd be wary maybe check out the Aeon range from the cobra 100 180cc 2 strokes and the 220 4 stroke.
Our kids give them hell and we use them for hire bikes the only repairs have been from crash damage. _________________ www.frogmorebikepark.com.au.
