Honda Riders Stamp Their Authority On National Quad Championships

West Australian teenager and quad racing sensation Chris Brenton has wrapped up the country’s first sanctioned National Championship at his home town track last weekend on board his Honda Shop prepped TRX450ER.

The manufacturer also took home second spot in the Pro Class with Honda Shop supported Anthony Yewers, a stalwartly veteran who finished on 96 points to Brenton’s 112.

Yewers also secured the title in the super-tough over 35’s class, whilst Jeanette Lindsay (privateer) and Patricia Bartley (Singleton Motorcycles) made it an ample Honda affair on the new “CRF on 4-wheels” by taking a one-two overall in the Women’s class.

Brenton – who won the ”unofficial” event last year as well – was a serious force on 4-wheels throughout the Wanneroo Motocross track event, dominating the entire proceedings.

Over two days, 140 Riders competed in five motos in extremely tough, sandy conditions that provided for an “ideal” environment for the locals. However Brenton came to the event having broken his ankle just eight weeks ago.

This didn’t stop the 19-year-old from taking command early on in the proceedings, eventually winning the title with a holeshot and first place in four of the five motos.

“My ankle did start to hurt a bit by the end of the day so it was good that I had already won the event by the time the final moto came along. I was able to relax a little and let the other guys battle away.”

Although also battling an injury, the big and powerful Yewers provided the most serious challenge to Brenton proving that age and size do not necessarily dictate the outcome of a quad race event.

Whilst US based rider Luke Beechey, slotted into third place overall in the Pro Class, Grant Gainsford (Honda Country) and Len Pipiciello (Ric Andrews Motorcycles), wrapped up the one-two spot in the Veterans 40+ class on board their TRX450’s.

“In a year where ATV racing takes a huge step forward with its recognition as a new class, Honda was able to celebrate a multitude of wins in a discipline that is in its very early stages,” said 4WMC Manager Rod Day.

“We must congratulate all of the winners, and young Chris in particular, on getting the first wins on the board and we look forward to supporting their careers in the future.”

and then there was Brett Yewers who podiumed behind his brother in the +35 vets finishing the last couple of races on Ant's spare Honda 4fidy race bike,,, cause he had Yami issue's Cool Laughing
