Oh dear... seek urgent profesional advice.

Ezey outs : They screw in to a broken bolt (after drilling a hole in it) and as you screw or tap into it, the broken stud screws it self out, well thats the therory any way, and dont get a cheap nasty set.

And on your stuck lock nuts, use plenty of penatrine and lots of leverage.

Good luck...

They are reverse thread so as you screw them into the broken bolt (once you have drilled a pilot hole) they unscrew the bolt. They work wonders.

They tend to break when you are trying to use them on seized bolts. Sad

That is what I was going to say ... they break on seized bolts. Probibally best to get it machined out, on a drill press and then re-threaded ...

You could try applying some heat (ie with oxy or map gas torch to overcome the seizure) prior to using an easy out, you'll have to touch up the paint though and watch you don't melt any seals or hoses... and watch the fuel.

Even if you get a new axle and swingarm, won't you still need to free the seized axle nut so you can use the sprocket and disc brake carrier??

If you gonna use heat ... take as much off as you can first, then work on the problems away from the quad ...

You will be supprised how quick the heat can melt the plastics and hoses ... dont even talk about the fuel!!! Yuck

why not just drill and tap the hole again?? cant remember but im pretty sure you can access both sides of the bolt... bit of CRC and drill from the side that snapped, with any luck it'll slip out, take your time though otherwise you will heat the bolt itself then it a prick...

If you try the easy out (aka extractors) don't break it. There made out of hardened steel.

They do work though, but not brilliant on seized bolts.

before you use the ez outs try tapping the broken bolt a few hundred times while it is doused in crc (or similar).
The idea is to jar the thread loose first.
If the broken bolt unsiezes and bounces you will see a rusty or corrosion discolouring in the crc.
now the bolt is loose... the ez outs will work.
drill the hole straight as sometimes when the drill bit breaks through it grabs an turns the broken bolt and can snap the drill bit if you have drilled on an angle.
