Hi all,
I am all the way from sunny South Africa ... take a look at out forum at http://quadtorque.co.za/forum/index.php
My family and I are currently thinking of relocating to Australia, and my son races QuadMX (www.quadmx.co.za) and I am wanting any information you all can give on the QMX racing scene in Auz.
He is currently on a Cobra 70cc quad, and I wanted to know if there is a class for him. He is 7 and we are looking at moving to Perth ...
Any and all info welcome!!! Thanks!!

Whatever,welcome to the forum & our playgrounds if you get here.  How did you find this forum? Check out esp the WA & VIC sections as there is some mx activity happening there,state rounds & nat championships coming up.

Thanks guys (and gals) for the warm welcome ... that is why I love quaddies ... no matter where you go in the world ... we are simply the best people about!!!
I found the site just by surfing about and Googleing AVT and Quad stuff ... I really need to know what to do about my son's Cobra ... if there is no class for him in Auz, there is no point bringing it over ... And me not taking his Cobra will result in harm to my person ...
SO ... If there is not class, I will need to tell him where he will be racing!! I am sure the dads here can relate!!!

the cobra's are good to race in the 90cc 2 stroke / 110 4 stroke class...there's talk from the Vic's on limiting the 2 stroke shifters to 70cc,,not sure if that rule will fly,,just yet
there's only a couple of cobra's i know of on Oz...1 in NT and one here in W.A.
you'd be comin to Western Australia for sure...where the current South African population is greater than South Africa.

Looks like there may be 2 in WA ... Looks like we leaning towards bringing the quad with us. Even if the little guy dosent race it for a year, it is not fair to push him backwards ... Perhaps we can practice on it when he practices on his other bike ... Will just have to see really!

Hello everyone.
Well it is funny how things happen, and how things seem to go full circle. So with that in mind I thought it only apt that I used my first post to make an announcement ...
It will seem that we are not going to be coming to Aus after all  . We received correspondence from the Department of Immigration And Citizenship that they have such a big backlog that we are looking at another 3 years before our application is even allocated to a case officer.
Apparently the processing office in Adelaide (all applications are processed in Adelaide) is so busy that they have opened another centre in Brisbane. But the new office is only taking applications lodged on or after the 1st July. Doesn't seem fair that some people who lodged at the beginning of July would have their visas already, were we lodged on the 23rd May, and will not receive anything until the end of 2011!! But who said life was fair!!
So I would like to thank everyone here for being patent and chatting with me. Helping put with advice and pointers. Good luck to everyone, heres wishing you a safe and happy time together!!

Another year and another update in the life of us ...
It would seem that you Aussies want another Saffer in your midst ... we have been granted visas!!
However we are no longer going to WA, but are rather going to SA (South Australia, not South Africa ). Adelaide to narrow it down.
I am arriving on the 9th March, to look for gainful employment. Wife and boys will follow once they have packed up the house and shipped everything ... I have to leave first as packing and cleaning are womans work (just dont tell the OH that I said that ).
We are going to bring Mikeys' Cobra and Matts (or is that Matto now :p) Adly. Anyone coming to the Aussie Nationals will see Mikey racing the Nationals ... so come say HI!!
Thanks everyone for info, help and tips!! Now back to reading ... I have a lot to catch up on!!
