 |
|
| after riding my yfz450 for a few years now the throttle still seems to make my thumb go all stiff and sore after big days at the track or long trail rides, are there anyways in which i can "soften" the tension up on the throttle? i heard you can put different thumb throttles on and gives different leverages but which ones work best, also rat motorsports has a new spring for the carby- does anyone know if that works or not? |

| i just put the honda thumb throttle on and i dont think it was such a good idea, the action is a lot more stiffer but the throttle is heaps more snappier due to the honda pulling the cable further with less lever movement, i will probably go for a ride tomorow and see if it is any better and bring the yamaha throttle with me incase the honda is too much for my thumb |

| yeah i have already added a extension onto the lever, a piece of drinking water hose, it made it much better, i spose i will just put up with it for now untill my thumb gets stronger |

hey peter,
jack from rat motorsports sells a new spring that softens the throttle on the yfz or any fcr carb. its about 30-40$ and you have to pull your carb apart but your esentially changing the spring to a softer one on the carb slide. if you take the throttle cable section cover off your carb, (right hand side) behind the round bit that rotates is the spring. best money you will ever spend.

i read (on this forum somewhere i think) that when comin up short on big doubles and similar jumps that when you lamp real hard and harsh the new spring cant hold the slide open and you get a kinda bobble in your engine but only real briefly
(P.S. this is peters son, james) _________________ 04 yfz450 |

Hey Gammie ,
A Genuine thumb throttle assembly from a ATC 90 is the only safe way to go,weaker springs can lead to sticky throttles .The parts come separate and will cost about $300,we have fitted several with great success _________________ Cheers
