Where do you guys buy your atv performance parts from? I am new to the scene and being a parts imanager by trade (earthmoving and heavy diesel), I obviously do my homework before buying parts, whether it be for business purposes or myself.

I have been doing research on ATV parts (Australia & O/S suppliers - mainly US) and comparing Australian prices with US prices (including frieght of course), and I am suprised at the mark up that seems to be on the parts in Australia. I have seen from a minimum of 100% MU to over 600% MU in some cases. Am I just looking at the wrong suppliers in Australia or is this just how it is?

The parts have been compared using US list prices and AU list prices.
Can anyone point me in the right direction in Australia or is it best to buy O/S?

Cheers
Neil

I suppose it depends how high a price you put on it. I myself can do all my own mechanical work so only concern to me is warranty on parts

The local dealers are victims of market size it would be great to see a few from each state form a buying group & consolidate there orders. Also when you buy from direct US you don't have to pay import duty/GST etc if you do it right. I know the local crew I get bolt on's from scratch to put 10% MU on a lot of stuff where as others have no shame on what they charge.
I think the more support given to local sellers the better things will be in the long run.

I understand what you are saying but I have been neglected by a local supplier (who will remain nameless) and now I tend to buy from the US. If there is no value in buying in Aus then why bother. I am not bagging every Aus company by the way, I have dealt with quite a few and only 1 has let me down.

Does Luke Beechey motorsports have a web site?
I'm also very tempted to buy direct from the US
because of the cheaps prices but would definatly
like to support Australian businesses.

Buying from the US is great at the moment due to the exchange rate. BUT if the exchange rate drops back to 50c in the dollar and all the Australian shops have gone broke.....
Also if you have a warranty issue you have to pay shipping back to the states, were as a local authorized dealer can take care of the problem for you.
Personally I will go to no other shop but Luke Beechey Motorsport. Here is here in south east queensland, has done it all before and is willing to help you out. Luke will recommend what is best for you not what makes him the most money.

I don't know why these local suppliers don't use ebay, if only for the exposure. I had so much trouble trying to locate good retailers for ATV parts in the beginning that I almost sold my raptor and went back to 2 wheels. Ebay is an excellent selling tool and should be utilized alot more in the pleasure/recreational type industries like ATV, MX, Skiing etc. I often wonder how many people just say f*ck it and go find something else to spend their money on as I all most did. You only have to look at the responses to this topic to see that people have no idea where to buy from, and thats only the people who have found this forum.

Some serious food for thought guys. Look what ebay done for all those "profanity removed" house china bikes. They are every bloody where now!

I have see stuff listed on ebay for quads but your right no much stuff is on there.
I was in the same situation when I first started riding, I knew no else with a quad and was getting bored riding by myself (or is that playing with myself laughing )
Anyway I found this forum and other info through google searches. Because the bike shops that sell quads don't support quad riders due to it being such a small market share, its only the aftermarket shops that support quad riders

yes true but also if ya into a sport you buy magazines plus join a club and look up clubs on web.... and those said clubs usually have sponsors and you can link to their sites or get a phone number from there

depending how long ya been into quads if it isnt long you have got alot more shops and places in aussie to buy parts then like 6 or 7 years back only hardiman and jmc back then that were really around oh and phil thomlin so if that is the case i wouldnt be complaining to much as prices have dropped alot since then i can tell you

Hi nrp77.
There is a lot in local service and advice even if it'd just for when you need a little clip or pin or something, that was lost in transit. And as a few have said it is nice to be part of making our local orders bigger and therefore cheaper.

Sort out what you think you want and then ring Adam (Quad Squad).
I've always got excellent advice, delivery and back up. He must run laps around America on the phone to get what I'm after sometimes. If he cant get exactly what you want, there is a lot of knowledge there to suggest or even make you an equivalent. Quad Squad is a distributor for a lot of really cool ranges, and as such, they can often sell in Aust cheaper than you can get it here direct from the US. they might buy 10 or 20 at a time.

Yeah support local businesses. Because if
you buy from overseas instead of going
local, there is no chance for the Australian
ATV scene to grow. So be a part and help
build this sport up.

All that being said, I need to give a thanks to Luke Beechey. Got my rim thanks mate and no hassle at all. It did end up at the bus workshop behind me but they figured it out (with your assistance I believe). Top job Luke. 2 thumbs up from me.

i just did a price comparison between importing front and rear shocks from the US or getting them through luke beechey and after you pay the import taxes that our great government suck from our wallets(you pay this tax on anything over 1000 australian dollars),you actually dont really save anything worth while.this surprised me as i thought there would be a good saving to be had.i will definately be buying from the locals

You need to look around alot more. You can get new elka shocks (front and rear) and upper & lower A-arms with tie rods and extended braided lines for $AU1895 + $111.00 frieght. Some places will mark it as a "gift" which makes it a bit cheaper to bring in.

You should look on ebay in the US if your bro is over there and get the gear sent to his house. There is so much stuff for quads on ebay over there at extremely good prices that its not even funny. MY next door neighbour is from the US and he is going home for Xmas and to bring the rest of his stuff over an he is grabbing me a tonne of parts for my raptor and packing it with his stuff.
