you know theres always a high risk of loosing your quad to low down retards. with little or no chane of seeing it again.What I have recenthly done to prevent this is a number of things, first thing I
went out and bougth 1.5 meter trippled harden hex chain motor bike chane and lock $139, and break disk lock with a built in motion tamper alarm that puts out 120 decible $60 and tomorrow Im buying a tripple hardened base plate that bolts to to the ground, $138 I have installed two bolt locks on either side of roller door that go into the wall to prevent any one jemmying the door u $25 and a tripple lock garage entry door $90
Total $139
$ 60
$138
$ 25
$ 90
_____
$452
Now Im note made of money but if this bike goes I cannot get another one to replace it The chain cannot be cut by any grinder sheers bolt cutters or saws Oxy how ever will cut it but it takes five times as long after they demolish my front door and set off the alarm shoul give my neighbougs some indication thats some things wrong. my toy is worth protecting. Insurance companies yeah they have yet to conveince me of there pay out because you have to conveice them the you were not the culprit Sean _________________ yfz 450 |

Sounds like a well thought out plan.
Like always, if a thief wants it bad enough he'll find a way.
Hopefully those measures you did will put yours in the 'to hard basket' and they seek a different victim.
I had my shed wired up to my house alarm, chain bikes to shed frame (expensive chain & lock - hopefully their good) and gates locked.
I am looking into insurance though. _________________ Don't close your eyes during the crash, you'll miss the best part |

| another good tip is dont show them off outside your house, keep em out the back, never start them in the shed if you can avoid it and dont ride them locally, you will be suprised who finds out what you have in your shed just by a neighbour telling a friend, "oh my neighbour, joe blogs just got a sweet dirt bike /quad".... |

If you are to insure your quad, you will need to have some of the things that sean mentioned "1.5 metre trippled harden hex chain" chained to "tripple hardened base plate that bolts to to the ground" and also has to be in doors.
I have these on my bike, cost me $250 to set up when i bought my bike and the insurance is about $350 (QVB insurance). the good thing about the insurance it covers it in transit and loading and unloading and i believe also fire and then hopefully THEFT
Just so some low life scum does not take whats not his! |

thats a good point ozzy I was going to take it for a blast up the street but I might rethink that. I got an open box trailer to tow it around and i bought a car cover to throw over it , eventualy I will get a canvas frame on the trailer when I get abit more cash together. I will look at Insurance in a few months time but I need assurance that they will pay out for genuine theft at least by your reconning Hulk I migth be half way there for there requirements. The motion sencesor would be handy if you stopped for a beer or two or three so when you heard the alarm go off in the car park you could stagger out with the leg of the stool in your hand to offer some assistance. Dogs are never real good though, does not take long to bait a dog...
Wire the garage door direct to 240V would be better !!
Pitty help any of the theives getting busted inside a shed in the middle of the act... I would tie them up for a week out the bush and cover them in a nice coating of honey, let the wildlife have some fun.... then realease em into the river (from the nearest bridge)..... before I rang the boys for their personal effects
A mate of mine, two weeks ago in Sefton, had an attempted break in, he has 3 pit pulls..
His car/trailer was parked in front of his shed and an oversized motion sensored light to cover the whole area.. they still moved the car, the trailer, smashed open the shed door, then took off when both alarm systems went off... they will try !!! |

| It's sad that our personal belongings aren't even safe in our own homes these days. With the money I've spent on peace of mind, I could probably afford some pretty sweet parts for the quads. |
