KTM Joins the Specialty Vehicle Institute of America

KTM North America, Inc. is the 12th and newest all-terrain vehicle manufacturer to join the Specialty Vehicle Institute of America.

The SVIA is the not-for-profit trade association founded and funded by the leading manufacturers and distributors of ATVs in the United States, including: Arctic Cat, BRP, Bush Hog, Honda, John Deere, Kawasaki, KYMCO, Polaris, Suzuki, Tomberlin, and Yamaha.

KTM is joining the members of SVIA to support the longstanding programs and efforts to make ATV riding safer and more enjoyable for all riders, including hands-on ATV rider training offered nationwide through the ATV Safety Institute (www.atvsafety.org), and advocating for state legislation . SVIA also is an accredited standards developer by the American National Standards Institute for the four-wheel ATV in the United States.

“KTM entering the U.S. ATV market is testament to a flourishing and open global marketplace,” said Tim Buche president of SVIA. “KTM’s membership will reinforce SVIA’s ongoing national efforts in rider training and education.”

President of KTM North America, Inc. Jon-Erik Burleson stated “KTM is proud of its long lasting relationship with the MIC and MSF and is excited to expand our relationship further with joining and supporting the SVIA. With the support of the SVIA, KTM can more easily provide our dealers and ATV customers with information about ATV safety and new rider training to ensure our customers have the best possible ownership experience with our product.”

KTM is a European company based out of Mattighofen, Austria. Since 1953 the mission of KTM is to bring together innovation, expertise and passion to produce “Ready to Race” products and accessories that can roll from the showroom to the track without tuning and costly adjustments.

Buche added that the SVIA continues to extend a welcome to all manufacturers and distributors in the United States ATV market to participate in its programs – key elements of which are aimed at deterring the use of adult-sized ATVs by children under age 16 – by marketing ANSI-compliant products and providing appropriate safety information and training opportunities to consumers.
