I have a 2005 peewee 50 that has developed a rattle that seems to be in the barrel ,top end area.It is a tinny noise that is relative to engine revs.Any ideas would be appreciated before i start throwing some spanners at it. _________________ I am old and wise because i survived young and stupid |

Runs fine can't fault it .Noise sounds top endish but lets face it what is there in a two stroke top end.Unfortunately explorative surgery sounds like the only answer at this stage. _________________ I am old and wise because i survived young and stupid |

definataly sounds like the top end, PW's have a terrible airbox boot on them and they let the dirt in like no tomorrow. sounds like it has just gotten a bit of dirt in and opened up the clearance(piston to bore).
its very simple to do a top end on these, go up a size on the piston and get your barrel bored and it will be as good as new. Yamaha has quite a few oversizes as OEM so getting parts wont be a problem.
when its all back together, seal the airbox to the intake boot with some silicone. |
