it stemmed from when england became part of the EC, and they have been road legal in europe for years, because of the lack of fuel and polution levels, so there fore the legalitie of them passed into england, simple as that. bastards i say Mad

Yogie's got it in the bag.

I was on the UK quad site and asked the exact same question.

Thing is this though. If your disabled you can register a quad for HWY use in Australia. But if your not you can't.

Now that is discrimination if I ever heard it. Agggh got you there you PC muvva f&*kers.

P.S. only joking team...

it has to be able to be done.... if someone can build there own open wheel replica car and get it road legal surely you could be able to get an engineers cert or something of the sort approval.... someone told me to look into 'adr approval'. i guess the main thing would be making sure to deem it as an all terrain vehicle not as a motorcycle...

here are a few sites i just found on adr approval for specialist and enthuisiasts vehicles...

http://www.dotars.gov.au/roads/motor/sevs/index.aspx

http://rvcs-prodweb.dot.gov.au/

if anyone has actually done it... let me know

1st big problem you will encounter at least in NSW is the locked axle, which is illegal, virtually impossible to maintain traction in the wet

We are from Sweden & UK & yeah its happening there. But if you go over stay off the roads on Sundays. All the nutters jump on their Road Quads inc YFZ450s Predator 500s & Raptors off down the Pub for a liquid Sunday Lunch they go crazy through the Forests. Needless to say the reputation is being ruined of the real Quad Riders.

We have not heard of many fatalities yet suprisingly...

In UK we have Agricultural class vehicle & PLG (Private Light Goods) Quads can be registered in both classes. The Agricultural is similar to our Rec Rego but you are allowed to do more....

Just about anything these days. Even obesity is an official disability now.
But basically, if you qualify to get a disabled parking permit, you can qualify to ride a quad on the road. To find out the permit qualifications, speak to your doctor or your local council.

A few years back i saw a Polaris TrailBlazer set up with full road rego, lights and mirrors and flag and even a little trailer on the back. It was parked in the handicap parking at our local Bunnings.
