Ok,

Went out for a ride today at Captains Flat, a place about 40km outside the ACT. The pictures are pretty boring as I generally ride alone (i know, I know, it's silly) as none of my mates are into the "bike" thing and therefore there are no riding/action/crash pictures. But I figure that by posting up pictures of the places that I ride I might be able to encourage others in the ACT/NSW local area to join me.

Anyway. here goes.....

Getting Ready to go...

Pictures of the trails I encountered...

After a little riding I bumped into a National Park and had to do a U'ie. I figure a fine for riding an unregistered bike for $300 is better than a fine for $600 that includes $300 for riding in a National Park.

Now this is where it gets a little interesting. In most of the pics above the trail is pretty well marked, but after riding along and noticing that the trail was becoming harder to follow I rolled down a little hill looking for an open area that I had previously spotted on Google Earth and then stopped. I looked around for a little and then realised that there was absolutely no track left to follow. I looked behind me and could see no track at all. After backtracking for about 200m I finally found a hint of the trail I had been riding on and got back on with the ride.

The next two photo's are the infront and behind photo's that I took when looking for the track I had been on.

After the little bit of fun getting lost, by myself, in the middle of f'ing nowhere I have decided to invest in a Garmin Etrex Legend to track my progress in the future.

That's it

I got a brother-in-law in Murrumbatman, next time I'm visiting we should hook up for a ride. That looks like nice riding country.

I haven't gotten around to picking up a GPS unit yet, still looking for the best place to buy from.

I will report back once I have purchased it and tried it out.

Yeah, more than happy to have a ride.

I'm just deciding where to head out to this weekend. Might go Captains Flat again or might go Urriara Forrest trails the other side of the ACT......decisions, decisions....
