I have the CVT of my Outlander L450 pulled down for "periodic" 100 hr maintenance and note that the specified grease for the clutch parts is Isoflex topas 52! This costs around $30 plus $20 del for a 50g tube!!!! Seems a bit over the top to me. I'm thinking that this grease is specified because of its low operating temp(-45 degC), which they may experience in Northern USA but certainly not here on the North Coast of NSW. So, I am thinking of using good old Caltex Liplex EP2 which has a higher upper op temp than topas but not as low....only good for down to -24 deg.
Has anyone else come up against this problem? Solution?
Comments welcome.
Thanks.
