The XT-P is pretty much all of the top of the line performance gear in one super cruiser ATV package.
In my opinion the Fox Shocks come from the factory set on the hard side, and you will likely get best results by backing off the high and low speed compressions and the rebound settings and taking some preload of the springs front and rear.
All depends on you and your type of riding though, and there is heaps of adjustment.
They are the highest spec Fox Shocks you can get.
If you are not used to a big 4x4 ATV, you will initially find it heavy and the 1000cc engine has huge engine braking too which can give that feeling of putting you over the front. This can feel magnified if you do not lower the rear a lot to compensate when sports riding. Once mastered though, you'll be amazed how super smooth and fast the XT-P can be over rough ground. Good throttle control is the secret and then they become really easy to ride hard.
And make sure the wheel alignment is slightly out, especially if running in full time 4x4 (recommended).

650 XT, is pretty much the same bike just toned down a hell of a lot. Maybe the best middle of the road all-rounder, smooth, predictable and easy to ride.
But if you are a power junkie, you might get used to it quickly and want more. They are by no means a slug though, and they are easier to ride fast. You'll get a good feeling from holding it pinned on more sections... which is just something you can not do on the 1000.

Hope that helps, have fun either way.

thanks for that Bullet , I have decided to keep by sxs instead and just go through the known faults with them and upgrade from there .

probably my main reason for keeping is that my young daughter often comes out for a run and i just think its a alot safer for her in the sxs

cheers
