Hi Guys,

I have a stock banshee and am considering a buildup. Drifitingbanshee was nice enough to point me in the right direction but I've come into a bit of a roadblock.

This is my first build up and need some advice. I'm not looking for wild drag racing or dune climbing power, I just want to have more power for trail riding .

I have shopped around for parts and so far this is what I came up with. With respect to carbs, I don't know exactly what I'm looking for, but your advice would be greatly appreciated on how I can go about building a good machine

Thanks

I did some homework and this is what I came up with. Can you please give me an idea what I am missing from this please?

Engine kit

Axle

Filter

Carbs for engine
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Keihin-33mm-33-mm-PWK-Carburetor-Carb-Kit-Yamaha-Banshee-YFZ350-YFZ-350-/191200970306?pt=Motors_ATV_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2c84774642&vxp=mtr I'm assuming these are the right carb set up I'll need for what I am doing

Porting - Couldn't find a wbesite but I would assume it reasonable to pay about $700 for porting and honing of stock cylinders for the new engine kit

Exhaust
http://www.ebay.com/itm/1987-2006-Yamaha-Banshee-FMF-FATTY-CHROME-exhaust-pipes-silencers-W-1-/291181304146?pt=Motors_ATV_Parts_Accessories&hash=item43cbc21952&vxp=mtr These look fine. Although I'm not sure if these are right for my proposed engine

Stator for lights
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Stator-200-Watt-Regulator-Rectifier-YFZ-350-Banshee-2005-2006-/121362432410?pt=Motors_ATV_Parts_Accessories&hash=item1c41c3c19a&vxp=mtr

New lights - Haven't found any yet but assuming around $200.

Suspension
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lone-Star-2-A-arms-Elka-Shocks-FRONT-REAR-Yamaha-Banshee-350-/360600651534?pt=Motors_ATV_Parts_Accessories&hash=item53f579470e&vxp=mtr Assuming as well that they also provide the new brakelines with these.

All about that's close to $6k.

What do you reckon? Have I chosen the right stuff for what I need? Suspension is a must for me. I tried contacting Works overseas but I got no response at all.

I'd appreciate your advice. Thanks.

like i said i would speak to an engine builder first before deciding on what you are buying and which way you are going to go. As for making the bike wider for trail riding this can be an issue with tighter trails and the back is a lot happier to go sideways.

you can speak to explosive racing in sydney. he will give you some good ideas or do what im doing and go O/S. It is far cheaper for a complete build door to door

This is a basic setup from explosive on ebay

as for the carbs id personally be looking at around 35mm for the sort of setup you are wanting.

Suspension you can save money by going a different route but if you want all over priced name brands then that upto you also

exhaust is a good choice. there are some better ones out there like the PRO CIRCUIT which give you a better rev range over the FMF and are specifically suited to the trail ride.

as for the stator dont buy ebay. you will regret it. While you are at it convert your banshee to DC and run HID kit! lights are sorted

Filters run foam pods if you are in dusty sorta areas. They filter to a smaller micron than the K&N

Talk to your porter, they would most likely be able to supply you with a stroker crank, exhaust, carbs, etc and do a deal for it all as well.
I would stick with the 33's for trail riding, responsive and useable power. As for pipes I would go pro circuits or pt mids. If more wide open style riding dmc's.

Go the +2 arms and if you don't like the width, just get 4+1 offset rims which will help your handling. And go for an extendable axle, you can narrow it back to std by just removing the hubs and switching some spacers around

that's way overboard ive just built a 392 banshee unported stock carbs t5s pen airbox pro design filter kit and tors it ran 61 rwhp on the dyno and the owner said its overkill for what he wants and for trails 28mm carbs are big enough
