my 2008 yfz 450 has developed a rattle in the gear box area , can hear really loud when in gear and under acceleration or light throttle opening
Do these things have box problems , im yet to drain the oil and filter and check for metal , and its still slecting gears ok .
I have changed oils from motul 7100 to castrol 4t . would this have anything to do with it ?
anyone experience similar problems
cheers luke |

| The yfz motor has always been a noisy motor , the timing chain gives out a rattley noise and they also tick under load but all are normal from an all aluminium engine . Not sure about the noise from the box tho , but I would go back to motul 7100 . Much better oil . |

I have noticed if the alloy bash plate on my quad is not on properly that it can make some horrible noises that you might think come from the gearbox.
Once its all bolted on properly then no more noises _________________ Team Ironpot 701 Just Doin It

yes they are a noisey motor but an extra noise, well, start with a loose bash plate, then maybe timing chain, clutch basket, chain rollers. It really depends on the definition of the sound of the rattle. Sometimes a rattle can be as simple as a worn out chain or it can be a piston about to come apart.... _________________
