regular maintenance by lubricating cables preventing siezure of same. ( from a few different handbooks on equipment. )
And using a silicon or graphite based lube doesn't let the mud and dirt stick as much causing abrasion. ( personal experience. )
A well experienced and qualified trainer stated:
"If they don't have the time to check the water, oil and tyre pressures, and other basic maintenance, you better make time for them!" _________________ Remember. We elect politicians, but we have to deal with bureaucracy.

I replaced a clutch basket the other day and the young fulla who uses it said to me why bother I havent had a clutch for 4 months. Thanks for the thoughts I might have toget the boss to give them another tune up _________________ Tremble with fear - I've had an idea |

Just like a chain,if you spray gooey lube into cables ,all it does it hold dirt and wear out .
The best stuff i have used for 20 years is SILICONE spray.
Get a babies bottle teat,(or just tape a carboard funnel) onto the end of the cable after it is removed from the handlebar end.String it from the roof and fill funnel with silicone spray and let it run thru cable overnight.
Clean up excess and job done. The slicone spray will dry off but still be there.
