 |
|
Hi all.
I have converted my brother from two wheels to four!
He is looking for a quad to buy for around $6,000. Maybe a little more after his tax return.
He has riden my 2010 Suzuki LTZ 400 and loves it. There is quite alot of choice out there.
He will be mostly trail riding.
He's looking at the Polaris 525 IRS, Z400, TRX 400, KfX 400 etc.
I was told to stay away from a 450 due to high maintenance. Is this the case?
Ultimately he wants something that is reliable, tuff, has reverse gear and easy to maintain.
Any sugestions or opinions?? |

| I love riding my brothers KTM525, it has all the fruit and reverse and now its done well over 100hrs on the motor i'd say its reliable. Each to there own though as i ride a 2 stroke with no reverse. |

A raptor 700r is a good choice as well excellent on the trails and has reverse. Can't stress it enough. Don't buy a quad without reverse. Please make sure any one you buy has reverse! |

Nah I gotta tell ya reverse is overrated! Don't overlook a good quad just because it doesn't have reverse.
How much time do you intend going backwards? _________________ Cheers,

Reverse can be handy, but i dont miss it.
The extra 100 hp makes up for the lack of reverse
for a trail rider, a raptor 700 is hard to beat... |

| it comes down to what sort of bike he wants not whats good on the trails. ive had a great time out on the trails on a stock kfx400 i borrowed from a mate. i normally ride a widened, bored out outlaw which i love but have also ridden two different raptor 700's (one i loved, one i hated) and a renegade 800. they are all great fun on the same trails they just give you a different riding experience. reverse can be handy but it is not essential at all. at the end of the day see if you can have a bit of a test ride on whatever bikes your looking at and go with the one hat is the most fun at the right price |

2x I agree with muzzgit..
I've owned a ltz400 don't get me wrong it was a great bike but I'd trade the reverse for a trx450er anyday, you just can't beat the power and handling _________________ Trx490er with all the fruit |

Hey, both our current quads have reverse, but it will not be a deciding factor when it comes time to choose my next quad (probably a 450).
My first quad (TRX 400) didn't have reverse but it was and still is a great quad.
There are heaps of good quads out there that don't have reverse.
But anyway, enough of that crap.
Get what you want dude, get out there, get it dirty, and keep the shiny side up. _________________ Cheers,

Thanks every one.
I have a 2010 LTZ 400 and I think it's great. Mind you it's the only quad I have owned.
Fair point about not leting reverse get in the way of choosing a good quad.
Looks like he has found a Polaris IRS. And yes get it out and get it dirty!!
Ridden not hidden!!! |
