I bought one new 14 months ago.
240hrs-no rebuild and still going as strong as it did at 24hrs.
No internal mods-yet, but i run the cherrybomb, pro design k&n intake with no air box lid and a full yoshi exhaust and really happy with its power for now.
Im around the 68kg mark and just softened up the susp a bit front and rear, very comfy 450, zuki shocks are fully adjustable.
Only issue i have had is they have a soft sump drain plug thread in the oil can, i just pulled the can out and put a helicoil in it, sorted.
Do it mate, pull the trigger on that deal. |

Go for it they are excellent . I purchased mine in december 2010 brand new out of the crate [2009 model] and it has been great . Just had it's first top end rebuild @ 62 hours and was still going good . My wife rides this one occasionally and really enjoys it . When i purchased mine it was $9500 including nerf bars & cherry-bomb . How many are still available ? The models with the gearbox problem [ 3rd gear ] is prior 2009 . Cheers Wayne |

I think you will find the models with the gearbox problem are 2008 onwards.
If its not ridden hard then you may never notice the problem, but if you do have it then say bye bye to $1500+. Having said that I think most other brands of quads have their own gearbox issues at various stages.
Out of the box with the cherry bomb and nerfs it will be great for her. The shocks will be fine but just a tad stiff. So softer shocks would be good.
Other than that you'll have one of the best quads out there at a very reasonable price _________________ Team Ironpot 701 Just Doin It

These are great quads , 07 no problem, 08 onwards they changed the gearbox , have an 08 and 010, rebuilt them both, but they have done some serious work. Will last a long time if no real pressure put on them. 3rd gear was changed after 07, different dogs and different castings, they will eventually fail, but is`nt that with any piece of machinery. _________________ JUST DOIN IT |

| We still have a few new LTRs left, some 2006/07s and 2009s. These are all bikes withdrawn off the USA market. They ARE brand new and come with factory warranty. Compared to the 11g we where paying for these a few years ago, these are bargains. The early ones are known to do heaps of hours without gearbox trouble. '08 onwards are the same gearbox. I would definitely buy an 06 LTR again if I were in the market for a new quad. I raced and rode mine heaps in stock form and didn't have to touch it (apart from normal servicing) for 4-5 years. _________________ Proud Member of QuadridersSA
