Can anyone tell me the pros/cons to running a large block tyre vs a small block tyre

as opposed to

http://www.itptires.com/sportatv/holeshot_sx.html

Or does one suit one terrain over another
Or does compound and construction play a bigger part

Cheers Confused Confused Confused

A lot of it depends on what you intend using them for.

The 'XC' tyres are more for cross country, trails, that sort of thing and you will find the sizes are normally bigger also. They will most likely also be 6 ply.

The SX is for MX tracks and will usually be 4 ply rated.

So in essence the bigger blocks are for trails, smaller for mx. You could use the SX tyres for trails, though you have lower ground clearance and more chance of getting flats. And you could use XC for mx, but the tyres will be taller and the handling will not be optimal
