If a person was to move down there what area/places would be best suited to someone with ATV's as their primary hobby?

I prefer faster trail riding and dunes over low range work, although I do like all types. I need a bit of space so a couple of acres at the absolute min, somewhere the weather is reasonably mild and where the building industry is healthy as I'm a Painting Contractor. Is there such a place? Laughing

Of course I know everything is always a compromise so Im prepared to only work a couple of days a week if that's what it takes to live in ATV heaven. Razz

G'day,

Attached is a Parks & Wildlife web page with a couple of good links to that shows you some of the places in the state to ride. There is everything in Tassie to ride from near vertical disused forestry tracks and sand dunes and everything in between.

The weather is mild all across the north of the state. It can get pretty cold in winter but then you can go riding in the snow. Plenty of small lots about. Should be enough work around for a painter.

the beauty of tassie is pretty much 3 hours and your at your location regardless where you live.

so it wouldnt matter so much where you based yourself.

im biased and say the n/w coast is the better of the areas tho laughing

Launceston would be best. Somewhere in the outskirts, probably more toward the North east as there are trails out that way everywhere.

Launceston is central to trail tracks, beaches and massive dunes within an hgours drive. Otherwise if you wanted to live near the beach Bridport is the way to go. Heaps of riding around that area.

Thanks for the replies guys. 3 hrs in any direction sounds good....I have travelled up to 15 hrs one-way to ride dunes(1 week stay)! Getting sick of the humidity up here and the governments attitude toward ATV access.

Yeah mate, I think we take it for granted not knowing what it's like interstate. But I would imagine that Tassie is one of the best places in Australia for riding, law and destination wise. Because 70% of Tassie is Forestry and harvested plantations Forestry roads are mostly all open for trail riding, so there is very little you can't go on a bike. You can almost ride from one side of the state to the other on back roads legally.

Maybe even come down for a holiday and ride with us.

Yeah mate that sounds awesome! I will definitely be down for a riding holiday and to check the place out. Do you think 2 weeks is long enough or need longer to not be rushed?

2 weeks would get a fair whack of riding in would maybe cover the north of the state if you were really keen and rode every day.

there are just so many tracks out there to explore.
