I got to talking to a lot of different people at the QQRA and asked their thoughts on why membership numbers have been dropping over the past 3 years or so. Most people blame the economy, but i think there has to be a lot more to it than that.

If you are not a member of the QQRA, why not?
What events could the club offer that would entice you to join?
What would need to change?

What exactly does my $50 get me?

I'm guessing that's what a lot of prospective members ask...

It will get you a free feed at our social weekends.
Also if you want to race you need to be a member of a MQ club which the QQRA is.
It gets you onto our email list for up coming events and social outings / rides .
Your Money goes into helping promote quad riding in Qld and you get to meet like minded people who enjoy all facets of quad riding.
Some discounts at our sponsors /suppliers.
We are a non-profit club and all of our money is put back into quads.
All the committee & helpers are volunteers.

thanks

To reply to Flipper's response

It gets you the events that were held last year that you rode or raced at thunder X, the nationals, social event weekends, and a network of like minded friendly people!!

It's clubs such as the QQRA that make these sorts of things possible and as Scotty said the club is a non profit club all the money the club makes goes back into the sport.

The club this year has looked at different events to sponsorship to help promote more Quad racing/riding in Qld and different incentive schemes to help riders along the way to some of the major events that are happening.

I believe it will be $50 well spent especially as you need a membership to get your licence and most clubs give you nothing for it where the QQRA has organised social weekends and provide a FREE dinner at each event!!!

Join up and join a great family of people and friends!!!

Up untili this year I have not been a financial member of QQRA. However, after speaking with some of the committee more frequently in 2011, and seeing how much effort they were putting into the QQRA events, I felt it was the least I could do for the club, as a bit of a return for the hard work put in.

Having said that, being bombarded with defensive answers when someone asks a question of the QQRA is probably not the way to gain more members to the club.

I can understand the hesitation of joining the QQRA if you have not dealt with the club before, as I said I would member up for 3 years in a row and never did, because I didn't see the point. But, the club is trying to help the sport, and that is where the biggest value lies.

We all need to stop the defensive attitude and bickering, as I know this HAS been a problem in the past, and will continue to be a problem in the future. Working together is the only way we can all help the sport grow. For example, Brainstorming ideas for QQRA events and other things the club can do. Try to get to social rides, which I will be trying to attend this year as often as possible. Make a news letter each month or two months. I would be more than willing to help out with that. Get riders to submit photos for submission, get the club sponsors to help with costs to cover it, but more importantly, do it electroncially (check out the SA club for suggestions). Get members to submit videos, How To's, race reports, anything to get people interested in ATV's.

Just what I see from my point of view. Not criticising anyone either.

Josh

I pretty sure I can speak for Scotty and myself and say that neither one of us was being defensive in our responses but just trying to answer Flippers response.
This is where forums can be a bit of a bad thing because it comes down to how you interpret the typed word, for example with what Flipper wrote some would take it as him having a bit of a go with what he said, but most would take what he wrote, as I did, and see that he was just writing down what would be a common response to the posted discussion. The reason I say this is I have met him and he is, from what I can tell, a good all round bloke that loves the sport as we all do.

As for defensiveness and bickering there wouldn't be a club around that doesn't have "personality clashes" we're all human and entitled to our opinion that's just the way it goes.

Most of the time the only thing we all have in common is our love for the sport and to see it grow. Unfortunately there will always be people who don't want to join up and support clubs to ensure they have access to events and facilities but they then whine that it all has disappeared look at what happened to superX.

I've been around MotoX clubs for a long time even stopped racing due to infighting in clubs but that was all when racing on TWO wheels!! what I can say is the people I have met and become friends with and the reason I am so involved in quad riding/racing is because of the people in the QQRA.

If I can make a suggestion that might help make QQRA more appealing.

You should look into securing a dedicated piece of land somewhere that you can call your own, and that members of QQRA can use.

Whether this be a lease on a block of land somewhere, or trying to get into bed with the newly formed Wyralong park.

If you have this I think new comers will see your group as being pro-active in more ways than just hosting MX titles and social rides here and there.

If you had a home base, then you could apply for funding grants to develop facilities perhaps.

A lot of effort yes, but the rewards would be there.

My 2 cents worth

it could be as simple as sending out membership dues in the form of an invoice as this is more formal and commands a responce as opposed to announcing that membership is due. i think im overdue mainly because i dont have somethink with all the details on it like amt due, bank details, postal add etc ie an invoice cheers
