I had a "look only do not touch!" at the Renegade on the weekend, Like all BRP products, looks good but????;
I asked the dealer a few questions and again (BRP Can-Am have no product knowledge)Q. I asked him if the rear diff would make the 2 back wheels go at the same time like the sports bikes with a fixed shaft A. they do have a diif but they are both fixed and turn at the same time??? why a diff?? anyhow I am still not sure about that answer. Q. I asked to lift the seat to check the storage (as we were not allowed to sit on the bike) so he lifted the seat NO STORAGE. Q. than I asked him where is the air cleaner? A. told me it is under the stearing. Q. OK can I have a look to see what it looks like? A. No, you have to take off all the front plastic guards etc....What? you are kidding? Q.anyhow it has only one brake lever does this control the front or the back. A the lever controls the back and the foot brake controls both fron and back Q. How does this work, how does the brake know when you go up or down a hill to distribute the pressure where you want it? A. I don't know it just works. Q. Price
A. $14.999.00 What???????

They got to be kidding right? where is the $14,999 value? sorry, but you can get a small "Getz" Auto on the road with 5 years warranty for $14,500.

I went to the Kawasaki dealer after this and got a price for their top of the range 700cc quad bike @ $11,000 without pushing for price and they come with 12 months warranty not 6 month like the Can-Am

Looks like Can-Am will sell lots of these at this price....Not! I guess we wait for 12 months and they will discount them off - so just wait guys before you rush out.

a mate of mine bought one and i took it for a quick spin,it was still inside its first ten hours so they govern it to 60% of power and this thing flew.smooth power in 2wd and 4wd.i ride the kfx700 and was impressed with the can am,he paid that price but got a few goodies thrown in.plus each bike is connected to can-am and must be innitialised via the internet before the sale is finnalised otherwise the bike dont go.

Also the bike is that popular and demand was so high in the states they turned the last shipment around and sent it back to the states fore sales their so we wont see the next shipment until november .
Plus i think i'd have more fun on a can-am than in a getz!

OK, That might explain why, when I aked the dealer to get the key and turn it on and show the instrument panel and start it up he said he couldn't do that as it is not commisioned yet?! But didn't explain why (that is usual for dealers)

So does that mean you have to take the Renegade back after 10 hrs to get the full 100% power? why can't the owner do this? so you can not do your own service anymore? Looks like they want to adopt the same as they are doing with the SeaDoo JetSki's - in the end you have to take it back to get serviced Hmm. That could be a problem for most of us, I don't know if I like this idea, I have been there before with my JetSki, the dealer in the end was like a Nazi - if you did not buy the JetSki from him they would not service the JetSki, and the service cost was a fortune just because they all adoped the same policy meaning, you could not go to an other dealer to get a better price as you did not buy the ski from them so they don't want to service it. The other problem was, you had to make an appointment for service months in advance especially around summer period as everyone was servicing their JetSki.

OK, Looks like the Renegade is off my wish list for sure!

I agree about having more fun with an ATV, However, when you look at the engineering and all the bits and pieces you get in a motor vehicle compared to an ATV you must ask your self - what am I paying for? a steel frame and an engine? come on 15 grand is way over the top, Evenm in the state they only cost US$10,000 which is Aud$12,000 we are getting ripped off! - I am sure you can have the same fun with a $9 grand ATV ??? right? so what I am saying is, Can-am and even Yamaha etc are all taking us for a ride because we like to have fun?

Or some people have more money than cents!

Hey Buzz, what u say about being ripped off seems to make sense , I have just priced a new Renegade in new Zealand and I can get for about $5k cheaper there ( incl the exchange rate and freight) and i would have it sitting here in my garage on the sunny coast.

I had the same problem with the DS650 so i bought two new in NZ and shipped them here , I can confirm they owm me thousands less than buying off the shop floor here.

Same for Yamaha Raptor 700 ....... whats wrong with Aust bike dealers why the need for greed !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If u got a mate with containers coming out of LA (eg with american cars or something like that. ), throw a bike in one and it will be cheaper again.
