Hi Guys
Im very new to four wheels as i have always rode 2 wheels until i had my accident on my bike which resulted in me being a paraplegic. I did a lot of research into what sort of quad would be best for my condition and found a Can-Am Renegade 1000 was the answer. I know a 1000cc might seem to be a little excessive but since ive been riding i have found the power very handy as i use to make the bike do the work for me. All tho this style of riding is not very forgiving on my rear tyres.
Im currently in QLD and have conditional rego but having a lot of trouble getting permission to ride. i have been intouch with Queensland Parks and Wildlife sevices which there policy states that you can get permission if your disable however they have not granted me permission and im still in battle with them. Has anyone in this position achieved this before?
Also im riding in Glass House at the moment as a "gost of the forest" as i have read in some posts. Is there currently a legal place to ride or any organsied rides as these can be passed under some the Queensland Parks and Wildlife legislation.
I am also look to see if i can register my bike as motorised wheelchair as can be classed as mobility aid, i have heard of someone trying this WA but dont not the full story.
An information greatly appreciated and im well a where that condition was mainly intended for farm bikes and things. but believe my condition my allow for exemptions as i cant ride 2 wheel bike and cant get into places with a wheelchair.
As im used to being told i cant do something all the time, i believe there is always a way its just finding it. i have achieve a lot in my time with that mentalitiy Eg jet ski, bungy jumping, minji swing and the first wheelchair bodybuilder to win the natural universe held outside of the states.

Hi Bumblebee1000.
Welcome to the forum.
I've been doing this rego thing for a while, and this has included Ministerial meetings. I can truthfully tell you this:
The legal status of riding in Qld is as a result of a whole of Govt approach, through not wishing to address the issues, blaming another dept and having their beaurocrats head stuck in the 1980's. Most of the politicians are clueless and have very little idea what is actually going on.
They've just called for a election, so maybe quad riders should consider changing the whole of Government. Write to your MP and tell them of why you'll change your vote, and in your case, the failure of conditional registration.
My position in this campaign doesn't allow me to encourage or endorse "illegal" riding. That said I am very busy pointing out to "them" that this illegal riding is as a result of the various policies in place.
Some ride parks, where you don't need rego anyway, just more money are:
Wyralong, where a proposed inter club ride day is planned for early February.
Manar Park about 4/5 hours out.
Black Duck has a legal spat on.
A place out past Aratula and another @ Blackbutt.
I'm also in Brissie ( Northside ) and pre the blitzes, used to ride similar areas to you described. Send us a PM and I'll tell you where I've seen forest ghosts. and a name that may help you with DERM...... _________________ Remember. We elect politicians, but we have to deal with bureaucracy.
Notice that crazy in the bureaucrats. |
