Hi,
Looking to buy a quad for my son.... However undecided on what brand and modle of quad to buy....
My son is turning 3 in may and that's when I'll plan to buy it.
Is there any recommendations on brand modle 2 or 4 stroke????
He will be mostly ridding at low speeds for the first few months using the speed limiter. How many cc will I need? 50 70 90. He will use it for atleast 3 years.
Should I buy a cheap Chinese quad or shall I stick with the yammy zuk Honda etc....
Any adivce will be great. |

Hi mate, going buy my experiences with kids on quads. I would suggest a china, only because hes not going to ride it fast and put it to its limits. we bought my daughter a Kazuma 90 4 yrs ago , she has now out grown it, but my other daughter who is 4 now rides it. It has been the most reliable chinese bike, it now has a 110 cc but that was because my 7 yr old decided to submerge it in a puddle that the only part showin was the seat.
The reason we got this one is, all other chinese bikes, dont allow for little kids hands reaching the leavers, so its got a foot brake to run front and rear brakes. We brought ours for $1050 4 yrs ago and has never failed us
my youngest daughter was 2 when she started riding it .

I am not a big fan of the chinese quads. My mate has a few for his kids and he is forever fixing them. Also they are worth nothing when your kids are finished with them. In saying that I researched and the Kazuma (Or I think they are now called ZUMA) are the pick of the bunch for chinese and they seem to get a return on resale. Saying that if you buy a good second hand kids Jap bike you will almost get your money back on them when selling. I would stick to a 50 to start with. I like the polaris as they seem to be slightly bigger than the rest which means they can grow into them and they also have angled front wheels which helps stop them from rolling over. My daughter has a 50 scrambler 2 stroke which pulls my 90kg frame around pritty well. The newer outlaw 50 is a samller bike and 4 stoke I beleive. What ever you do make sure they have a back up kick or pull start as the batteries run low fast. cheers _________________ Rusty99 |

| Thanx for that. I didn't want to go the Chinese way but I'll definitely look into the kazuma. They are not cheap, I saw a used one on eBay for 800. Much more$$$ new aswell. |

we have a raptor 90 for the boy and chinese 110 for the girl, we bought the boy a chinese bike first off till he made sure he was going to stick with it, and both the chinese quads are from different sellers and boys one was touble from the first day, and untill I gave it away, mind you the seller replaced any part I asked to with no question, and the girls one came a from a dealer that told me as soon as it ridden, no support unless we pay, but this quad has been bloody fantastic, and aprt from a carby rebiuld and new battery, cant fault it.
go figure ? but I will say buy a raptor 90, a great little bike, nothing comes close. wouldnt even look at the kwakka to be honest. _________________ 2005 KFX700

| YFM350 Raptor. My girlfriend has one and it's awesome, not too much power and not too little. It's a bit soft on the suspension but it's slightly adjustable |

Get a known brand 50cc quad. let them ride it till there 6-7years old, then look at what they are interested in. If they still like riding by then i'm sure you'll know what to buy next.
I have 2x nieces and 2x nephews. They are ranging from 1-8 years old. I have 2 quads for them and looking at a third cause the 5year old girl is looking at moving to a 90cc and the 4year old girl is keen to take the 50cc of her hands. The 2 quads i have are a ltz50 and a trx90.
The way I see it is ya by a Chinese quad you spend all your time fixing it and it's worth nothing in the long run. By a jap quad. worry free riding and they hold their value to a certain degree.
Thanks
Brad |

Don't think he wants to kill the kid..
I suggest keep away from chinese stuff, spend the bit extra to make sure you have a safe bike.
If the kids big enough definitely go the bigger size eton 50. if not go for a the smaller ltz 50 or small eton 50. |

| predator 50 2005 model bought 2nd hand for $1200.00. 2010 china quad for $600.00 delivered off ebay. china bike battery shat house and am replacing with $50.00 gel cell. also hand break pin on handlebar exploded and is now non existant , carbie sticks open and rev limiter screw does bugger all. my 5yo rides the polaris and after his first stack doesn't go too fast. the china bike runs well, does about 50k/hr with me(105kg) and my then 2 y/o on it. even got air with us on it too. it has a remote kill switch good for about 10m, also remote ignition too. overall happy with china bike, was from cobb and co on ebay. u get what u pay for[img][/img] |

Second hand jap bike is a better option and as a lot of other guys mentioned it has a better resale value. I have had a few chinese things for my kids (older versions) and it is really hard for a young kid to understand that it has stopped or broken and you cannot fix it without parts. I would rather go riding than spend the day repairing. I used to regularly go to a farm near my place to repair a kids quad because his grandaughter would come up for the weekend and it would not start. It also was very unstable and the slightest bump it would head where ever it wanted.
I know the chinese stuff has improved, i certainly hope that it will continue to do so. _________________ I am old and wise because i survived young and stupid |
