I was riding the Bellingham/Bridport dunes today with a mate and we came across something you don't see every day.

A dead Southern Right Whale which had washed up on the beach at St Albans Bay.

There was a big chunk taken out of its side, probably by a Great White Shark. The balloon looking object on the whale is actually its stomach lining.

It was about 8 meters long and we reckon there was another 5 or 6 meters of the tail section buried under the sand. Over 40 foot in the old terms and weighing many tons.

It's pretty sad in a way.

I was at the Henty Dunes the week before and saw the pod of whales just out to sea. They must have beached themselves just after that.

FMD. Those powder monkeys were from Red Neck county I reckon. If the Parks and Wildlife blow this one up at least there are no house for 10 Klms in any direction.
