Hi all, I am a new quad bike rider. I have never ridden quads or bikes before and wanted to get something to keep up with my son, who has been riding his 50cc 4 stroke chinese quad for 8 or so months now.

I purchased an Elstar 250cc quad and am enjoying it very much. I am not doing anything serious with it, like jumping and flat out speeds, so thought this was the best place to start.

I know the chinese bikes etc aren't known for their quality compared to their japanese brands, but I didn't want to spend a lot just for putting about after a 3yo.

After riding it this weekend I would only change the suspension, as the shocks on it now are slow to rebound. But so far so good. I am so enjoying it riding up the local tracks and through the mud.

This may be a silly question, what do you suggest for general maintenence as in after a ride.

Thanks

Mike

Haha funny you should say that. The manufacturer actually specifies using it on all nuts and bolts needed for assembly, so have already done that and used it on all bolts i could see also.

I have been lurking on here for a little while reading about others experiences with chinese quads.

Hopefully mine will last ok as it isn't being ridden hard.

i would change all the hoses ,fuel lines etc to good stuff from repco etc then fit an ngk spark plug.make sure the foam air filter has oil on it and check every nut and bolt for the first few rides.then have fun.I use INOX on my chains as it does not hold dirt . We beat the hell out of ours and have a ball and sometimes they break. If you don't ride like that, you won't have a problem.
