What are the new v8 utes like?
Have one of the last turbo 6 cylinders , how do they compare against them.

Early ones had some oil use issues... not sure they have been overcome, Starter motors are in an idiotic spot, factory quotes (from memory) 16.5 hours to change it...

They have changed the cab/dash interior and the oil issues have reportedly been fixed with a little different motor. Know of one new one with 35000 on it with a 5th gear problem already.

hey i work as a fuel injection tech in kalgoorlie boulder
theres a lot of mining here
alot of these v8s i have seen do starters and alternators if used in wet conditions
fuel coolers corrode out if used in salty condition and are not cleaned out properly
i have seen quite a few with injectors failing at around 150000km
and heard of at least 15 motor replacements
most people i talk to tell me they wish they kept the old factory turbo 4.2
but
if you do regular servicing on them and don't mistreat them to much they should be a nice reliably ute
most important is to do the fuel filters every 5000-10000 km because a fuel filter is a small price to pay when the injectors are $1200 each
another one to look out for is nissan is supposed to be releasing a new v8 petrol powered patrol soon

Great... another big thirsty engine no one needs, they should be getting rid of those four cylinder Diesel Dogs used in the patrol and Navara.. (ZD30 and YD25)... last good Nissan diesel was the TD42.
