Hi All

People high and Low have worked hard and we have what was a desired outcome in a CAMs classification (on the way?) and the immediate announcement of the Australian SXS rally challenge

Discussion between a few people at TORC has led to a plan for expansion of the club in the way of taking on the SXS class (and another “secret” class) and giving it a “clubroom” style home base and are inviting those from far and wide as well as those really close to be part of the close knit TORC club, basing their racing and riding needs out of there Kyneton base of ops.

As you can see by the arrangements below it seems Sat may be the day to be there and have a look at the club, have a drive on the track, maybe take out an interested bystander who is licensed to ride shotgun and display your wares if you are a manufacturer, supplier to the SXS industry and have the obligatory beer & BBQ that night while you fix the problems of the world.

Being part of a club is somewhat essential to the next phase of growth of the sport. Its where your competition and your camaraderie is going to come from. Its where you’ll pick up your 3rd & 4th crew members to do Finke and as it would seem next year The Australian Safari as well. I also believe that CAMs has a little by-law about some club affiliation, not sure on that but whether they do or don’t, being a member of a club allows everybody to grow their skills and experience commensurate to the level of skills and experience of the people around them so in general they are a good idea.

I have put the contacts in BCC to cover up for the fact I embarrassingly know 8 people and 6 of them don’t have SXS’s so spread the message far and wide. Speak to Trevor about getting down for a ride or how to demo your wares and maybe we’ll even be lucky enough to have a set of Regs to discuss and test how soft the paper is they are printed on! 

All I know is what’s written below so if you have a query other than what beer to shout me give Trevor a nudge.

Cheers

Gavin

Hi Gavin
The Side By Sides are covered by Cams Insurance and l think they call it a demonstration. No racing will take place but it will be run like a test and tune.

The Costs:- Membership $1 for a once only (basically a weekend membership) or
$25 for a year membership which will cover you for the calendar year 2012
Once racing starts to become race member it is $65 but if you have already paid the social membership you pay the difference $40. (We are reviewing the membership fees but l think that if the price does rise it would be in the range of $10)

Cams Licence $85 for a CAMS one day licence
$105 for a L2S licence which is a yearly licence. ( If you have a one day licence and decide to get a year licence you pay the difference)
$205 NO National Offroad which allows you to race other state and National Offroad events (Like Finke, Pines, Sea Lake Etc).

Track and insurance fee $25 This covers some costs for track maintenance and insurance cover.

Race Wear This should be to the CAMS regulations. Approved Helmet Full Face can be either road helmet with visor or motocross with goggles.
Race suit but at the least overalls in good condition.
Race boots covering the ankle. (Good sturdy leather boots can be used must be lace ups.
Gloves to protect hands Leather is good like motorcycle gloves.
Neck brace or better Hans device

It looks like there will be more buggies as in the TORC style on the Sunday and we may have to run heats which will make the day very tight as well as track watering etc. I think the side by sides main day will be the Saturday. We are having a working bee the weekend before so l hope the majority of the work will be done ready for people to take full advantage of the Saturday
Not sure but for the people that are staying or camping the Saturday night there might be a film put on like Finke Desert Race Etc.
The facilities that are there at TORC Club Rollinson Reserve are toilets, shower, BBQ, stove and oven

Just to summarise the costs if you already have a Cams Licence you will only have to pay the $1 or $25 Membership and the $25 track insurance fee.

What else have l forgotten.

All the best Trevor 0427 141 796
