Hi, i am currently seriously considering buying an fl350 or fl250 (preferably an fl350). I want a decent condition (not 100% restored) but one to fang around the bush in reliably. So i was wondering, should i be considering an fl350/250 for bush riding? or another buggy?

The reason i don't want an fl250, is that not having reverse would kill me when i go onto the tighter trails.

I have looked at 350's on ebay and they look alright in pics but some i've seen have either bent frames or engine issues, etc. So any tips on what to look for in buying would be also great.

Also if anyone knows ANYONE who has an Odyssey PLEASE Post i am getting desperate haha. But seriously if anyone is selling there ody (250 or 350) give me a yell.

I get the feel that not many people ever look at this forum (as the tiny amount of posts) but hopefully someone looks soon.

Checkout Dunebuster at the top of the page, if yo have a hardon for Honda's he has a Pilot for sale.

Failing that I have a RZR for Sale on this forum.

No FL's on here and havent seen any on the Mini buggies of Australia site, youre about 15 years too late!

I dont know how much you know about odyssey's but we have had a few both 350's and 250's in my opinion there is no comparison.

350's have reverse independent front and rear suspensio, however they were only made in 1985 whereas 250's were made over a number of years pre and post 1985 and hence the reason for there being more 250's around.

You should still be able to pick up one in reasonable condition we sold our last 4 years ago for about 5g. They are getting abut long in the tooth now and if something goes wrong it could be hard to get parts and that's the main reason we sold ours.

There are no doubt alot better vehicles out there these days I haven't kept up with buggies but I'm sure your up for a lot more $ in the short term for purchase. Anyway hope that helps I dont know of any forsale just keep your eyes out. Froggy

I new everything that you said about the odysseys, i thought it would be a good option as they are under $4000 as my limit is about $3500. Are they reliable machines? if not is there any other option of buggy? no way im going chinese.

Also were can i find dunebuster?

I meant AussieDuner at the top of the thread and forget it if your talking 4, the only way you'd talk to him bout his Pilot is if you had money for the 2nd Hand SXS's but wanted old school instead.

Otherwise dont regularly see Odyssey here.

i've got a fl250 which i'm thinking about sell now i've got a quad. the main issue with them is parts, Honda deals laugh at u but after googling there are a few US sites still selling parts.

I may be wrong but I think Aussieduner sold his Pilot a while back .

Go the FL350 over the FL250 as it is far more advanced and the Pilot is a step above again but a lot more expensive.

If you can find a FL350 in good nick for around $4 -$5 buy it as there is nothing that will come close to the build quality for that money.

Parts are not a real issue you can still source most things from the US

Hi Guys
I have FL250 in good running condition, I have been able to get all the parts I have needed to get it running great, ie disc brake pads, cables, engine mounts & an overhaul carby kit. The only thing missing is the mud guards, who needs them!
I have been thinking about importing a Goki Electric starte kit for it. Getting old. Is anyone aware of these kits in Austalia?
The kits sell for about $330, but shipping costs about $200.

Any advise would be appreciated.

I have a Goki starter on my 350 trike, better than kicking it.
For cheap freight ex USA join MYUS.com the cost of membership is usually far out weighed by the reduction in freight costs.

Hey guys! I am actually from the States, but have 6 fl250's and enjoy discussing the oddy's with other folks.

IMHO, I am a bit leery of the FL350 just because of the fact that it was only made for one year. This means that the parts are going to be much tougher to find, as well as much more expensive. However, the fl250 was made for 8 years, and finding parts for them are relatively easy (at least they are here). Likewise, the fl250's are pretty straight forward and easy to work on/diagnose. I have been down some tight trails on them with no problem. Pretty easy to turn a tight corner.... just nail the throttle and whip the ass end around. Wink I will admit, it WOULD be nice to have reverse.... but in the absence of it, you just get used to making due.

As far as the aftermarket starters.... one of the fl250's I bought had one on it. It worked, but I just didn't care for it too much. Tune up your fl right, and it's only a single pull to get it started anyway. So I took it off and stuck it in a box on the shelf where it has remained.

As far as reliability.... I can't knock the fl250's. I have one that is still running on an engine I rebuilt in 1989. It's the fastest of my 6, and shows no sign of slowing down anytime soon. With that, I will tell you tho that I don't abuse my machines, and maintenance them very regularly. None of them are going to withstand the test of time if they are abused and not cared for properly. With the way I have seen some of these people treat their stuff, it is amazing that they manage to keep them running for a year......

I am curious.... how much does a decent fl250 cost in Australia? Here in the States you can get them dirt cheap. The most I have paid for one is $500 US dollars. The cheapest I have paid is $125 US. One the $125 one, it had a blown piston. Spend about $100 US and had it fixed and running. The tires were in great shape, and surprisingly, there wasn't anything missing off the machine. On the $500 one, it had all new tires, a freshly rebuilt engine, etc. The guy couldn't get it to start and got frustrated. I got it home and in 10 minutes had it running. He had crossed 2 wires and had the coild grounded out lol.

Mind you, I have seen people want as much as $2,000 here for them... but I have never seen one sell for that. About the most I have sseen an fl250 sell for around here was $1500, and it looked almost showroom quality. The average, I would say, is somewhere between $500 and $1000.
