Hi All
I am currently doing some cleaning up of and work on my quad (05 yfz450). It currently has a filter with air box lid removed, full exhaust and a 13:1 piston [I believe it has the oil mod done too (hole drilled in block)]. I am looking at doing the cam mod on it aswell while I'm playing around with the bike (as I don't believe it has been done yet). At the moment it has a 178 main jet, a 42 pilot and the stock needle is sitting on the 3rd notch. I have been reading a few post on other overseas websites and I would assume that the main would be fine if left at that but the pilot may have to go up to anywhere around 45 - 50 as the cam mod will make it harder to start otherwise. Also most people then run the need on the 5th or 6th rung. Would I be correct in these assumptions or not. If I am off track would you be able to suggest what you would do.
Thanks guys and sorry for the Noob question. Trust me I have done some reading on this but just can't decide.

| a pro design filter up grade would be a good thing with that pipe, stage 1 cams with some head work is a good combination with that piston but as far as tune make sure your using 98 octane and its fresh all the time but you should get the quad dynoed otherwise your just guesing and that is not good plus you wouldn't beleive how much better it is to ride the throttle response is unreal and it starts as soon as you touch the starter button thats just how i feal i have had 5 of them all dynoed good luck. |

hi Raz I ran a 185 main ncvq needle on the last clip and a 48 pilot, but had a bigbore not a hi comp. As big me said dyno it for the best results, the cam mod doesn't add much power but narrows the power curve as in closes the lobe seperation angle like car drag cams i think. still it makes it more fun to ride. _________________ adrenaline junky... |
