ill cut a long story short
was doing a wheelie, was about to lose it so i jumped off the back, kill switch teather shut down the motor. Bike would have been in the 2 oclock position as i bailed
went to jump back on. Error code 33 (ignition, as per service manual) and engine light on. Bike cycles pump and cranks over but there is no spark at all.
removed kill switch, still nothing. Coil is fine, checked with new item.
took to the shop and we put a new ECU from another bike, that has no error codes stored in its memory. Bike started straight away.
now, is it "profanity removed"?
or, does the code need to be cleared in order for the bike to start ?
or, is there something else in the ignition thats not working as it should and the ecu wont fire due to said problem - ideas?
its going into cullys yamaha tues for a diagnostic...
next q
i already have a PC5, and the only replacement i can find for the ECU/CDI is the revbox / dynatek or similar. But they are programmable. I cant run one of these and have the PC5 at the same time correct? would be like an interceptor of a modified tune (pc5 intercepting already modified tune from dynatek etc)
ideas ? |

Code 33 is ignition coil.
When I hooked up my kill switch I didn't like the way the it showed to wire it up basically shorting out the coil.
I wired mine to the ignition key instead.
Maybe the ecu is fried.
I hope your bike has warranty and they cover it.
If it has warranty and you installed the kill switch yourself I would remove it and play dumb. |

it should just be able to be cleared, the ECM just thinks that it is still a fault. like kingquad said you should wire it to the ignition key rather than the coil or wite it to the pulse from the stator which is before the ECM and so wont put it into a fault state _________________

Thanks for the replies fellas
The switch was installed by a local shop and its how they wire them all. IVe heard that many reports over all makes on which way is the correct way to install a kill teather. Either way, when this is rectified the teather will be getting the flick...
fingers crossed an ECU reset will fix the problem. Bike is out of warranty |
