How much is "too much money"?

28 or 32mm carby

Aftermarket pipe

Aftermarket air filter

Aftermarket reeds (V Force are good)

Advanced timing plate (elengate the stock holes)

If it needs a top end rebuild get a good piston for it, and get it ported.

It's possible to get a 240cc big bore kit which apparently almost doubles a stock blasters HP.

Or if your really keen you can always get the engine out of a 1984 DT 200

Use the dt's wiring, top end and clutch cover then you'll have a power valved and water-cooled blaster. (but it's not that simple)

Paul.

Thanks for your thoughts paul, we were thinking along those lines, it's for a 13 yo who has only just started racing so we don't want to go too over board just yet, just wanted to give him a bit more power!

Too easy, a pipe, filter, jetting and timing plate mod will really change the blaster.

Good luck, Paul

you also might want to spend some of that money on suspension/widening it, as the blasters don't really handle mx tracks too well stock.

YFZ arms dont fit, you can use a Banshee axle tho.

I don't think any other yamahas have interchangeable arms with the Blaster.

A really good reference for blasters is www.blasterforum.com

It's all American but there's stacks of info about anything you could possibly think of to do with blasters!!

I've got a blaster with an FMF fatty pipe & powercore II silencer.. Makes a noticeable difference.

Trying to get an old second hand 32mm carby to work at the moment! Will be good to see what results the carby yields laughing

Cheers

Al

YFZ arms fit with a small amount of modifications (I've done a few conversions of them) you need to shorten the top arms by 25mm too

These are the only pics i could find of it on my computer. I have a feeling the pics Pete took whilst building it may be of the old-fashioned paper variety in a box somewhere eek
They're not very clear, but you can at least recognise that it is stock YFZ shocks & a-arms in use.
