A lot of you know that I've been fairly involved with the government trying to grind out some legal riding for quads and side by sides.
The change of government is slowly opening the doors for change and communication.
And while it isn't readily apparent, it is starting to move.
The Dept of Sport and Recreation have asked DERM for suitable land for another Wyaralong style ride park northside of Brisbane. This will then need to go to tender for management, etc.
My own view is that it's generally too dear, gets boring quickly and doesn't really represent value fro money for many trail riders, in the proximity of it. It does provide legal opportunities for unregistered vehicles, junior and other unlicensed riders and seems very popular for MX riders however.
Remember that the 2 wheelers outnumber us over 7 to 1 and we have to share what is available, legally and otherwise.
Whether or not you agree with the concept, or my individual opinion on the matter, it looks like the wheels are starting to move, but it will be a fair wait yet. But that is only of real benefit for the South East of Qld, again........
It also looks like we may get some trial areas to use for a recreational registration style registration. The where and how is only just at talking stage.
I think that quad riders, and side by side operators, throughout the state should get on the wagon here.
I know a lot of riders in CQ, Moranbah, Mackay, Emerald, Bundaberg, Rockhampton, Gladstone, etc and the far north, including Townsville, Ayre, Charters Towers, Bowen and Atherton are aware of areas close to them that would maybe be suitable.
And Qld is a big place.....
The loosely put criteria is:
away from whingers,
close enough to major centres that have 000 facilities,
do not have envireomentally sensitive areas that need traversing,
would provide tourism opportunities to local communities through the usual food, fuel purchases with possible accomadation , camping and any other attractions.
So, if you've any suggestions, or questions, places ( maybe including a state plantation number, reserve name) whatever, please put it up here.
Those that need to know will be monitoring this thread.
A poll is running to help indicate preferences....... _________________ Remember. We elect politicians, but we have to deal with bureaucracy.
Notice that crazy in the bureaucrats. |

How about Teviot State Forest or
Spicers Gap SF
Gilbert SF
Goomburra SF
Emu Vale SF
Swanfels SF
All State Forests away from whingers,000 not sure, not too far from towns for fuel etc.
These are state forests not National Parks but i would like to put a few of them in.
All in SEQ,where a lot of riders live.
