Hi,

I have a 2005 660 Grizzly and a problem has started today. It wont go over 25 KPH, just breaks down and is like a limp mode. It seems the same as when you are reversing too quick and it cuts out. Tried to hold the limiter button but that didn't do anything. Also tried another electronic box. When in forward and you go over 25 the reverse light on the dash comes on and then flickers. I need to have this bike ready by Wednesday as I'm off on a 10 day cull hunt. I have a manual but it is at my work. Is there a simple way to disable the limiter.

Regards
john

Could be the safety clutch start switch or something very similar.
I'm not sure how the reverse gear rev limiter works on those but that system of things could be faulty.
You will need your manual and a multi meter to check everything.
Electrical problems suck.

I would start at the reverse switch and follow all the connectors.

i would say that the gear selector has come out of alignment and thats why the light is on and it is throwing the switch hence why it is speed limited

Same as the Raptor - it is the reverse limiter kicking in.

Try cleaning any build up in the park brake/clutch lever and tracing wires from the levers.

Also try a search on here - might have to read through heaps but it will tell you what color wire may also be an issue near the gearbox. Green/White from memory.

The reverse light is an indicator of the problem on the raptors. On them you throw the park brake away and disconnect the wires under the front shroud so that it bypasses the limiter at all times - just need to be mindful of it when in reverse. It might be worth disconnecting the park brake wires to see if the problem goes away.

hope that helps a bit.

If you need a manual to look at try rivaracing.com and see if you can find the model. A lot of the US sites have good parts manuals on line.

Thanks for all the info, it's what I suspected. I have the manual at work so will check it out in the morning . I'll take the bike to work on the trailer as I'm running out of time.

All fixed , it was the reverse limiter. Found a good site with quite a few mods for the Grizzly. Grizzhopper.com.
