I am going to take the ole raptor apart to check out some noises I have going on.
Whilst it apart I am thinking of some more upgrades. Sick of the 450's leaving me eating sand.
What's next for power, it is stock, except i have a rs3 full yoshi exhaust, k&n with adapter, no lid and a dynojet kit.
I use it in the dunes and trail riding, was thinking of the 11:1 with a stage 2 hotcam. What do you guys suggest and why ?
What are the differences between the bore size pistons 2 mm over 1 mm over .40 .60 over, what does this mean and why how much difference between these really?
If you just buy the standard bore piston are new sleeves and honing required for this and the ones that say over, I take it the ones that say over are requiring a rebore and sleeve
What else do I need to buy to complete the setup and installation ... cheers

hey mate, i have hotted my 01 up a bit.

cam (hot cams)
re-ring
full exhaust and muffler
pro flow intake
jets
and k&n airfilter (no lid on box)

BUT i was told as soon as you start goin for higher comp and bigger pistons it usualy results in gearboxes shitting themselves.

just what ive been told by dudes at yamaha and another guy who races and now uses a aftermarket one.

my bike is pretty quick keeps up with stock 450s easy and my mates re-jetted and full exhaust 450. (just)

I would get a standard size, high compression Wiseco piston kit (unless your bore is damaged). Give your cylinder a light hone and get a Stage 1 Hotcam. No need for aftermarket valve springs etc with this cam. Have your ports tidied up and I think you will be happy with the results and it won't cost the world.

Give Zak at Explosive Racing a call, he can steer you in the right direction. He does have one of the most powerful 660's in Australia.

Your right about the over sizes requiring a rebore and re-coating.
I'd be going for a 10.75:1 JE High Comp and a Web cam. Worth getting a bit of port work done while you've got the head off too. If your barrel is in good nick the all you'll need is a light hone if you stay at std size. you can contact me on 0419 001 747 bif you want to discuss further.

Thanks Guys, got some noises now after a hard day in the saddle, didn't know where to start looking.. not enough time on my hands.
Explosiveracing now has it, all over to Zak to take care of it.

I was hearing tapping noises from underneath the cylinder head, deep down in the motor say underneath the pistons, hopefully explosiveracing are pulling it apart today to check it out.
