Hi , has anyone bought one of those TDR 49cc tiny quads or know anything bout them ? they are on the "bay" selling from Victoria somewhere , thought maybe i would get one for the grandkids, they selling around 180 bucks plus 130 for post to Tas.

if they are selling them for $180 i wouldnt have high expectations of there quality or reliability...then again you could get lucky

You may as well ride it around....The little quads top speed would be about as fast as you go on your 750 King Quad.

Well well Mr Tas ATV, i figure it`s quality not quantity, the speed thing that is , you know what i mean...... i mean who in thier rite mind goes greyhounding into deep unknown river crossings in two wheel drive only to get semi stuck and fill the tranny up with mussles and marine life and sea weed then......call upon their mechanic freind to come and fix the bike ??????? ....You see that is what greyhounding does... But take me for example.........like the tortise and the hare.... slow and steady wins every time. well almost, so if i was you....i would get your mechanic mate to come over and adjust your throttle stop screw to about a quarter then you will have more time to think about what your about to run in to you`ve got me number.

I bought one of those mini quad things TDR or whatever, will cost about 330 delivered , maybe they are crap or maybe they will last the grand kids a year or so, either way they are still cheap and a bit of maintinance now and again it should last a bit , probably no worse than going to kmart or toy world and buying 300 bucks worth of toys that last a day or so, one thing i have noticed about these chinese jobs is that the engines seem to be fairly relaible and i think if one completly goes over the bike and loctite`s everything and do a bit of electrical stuff and so forth maybe they will last a bit....see what happenes i guess....... any other comments ??

not sure, but if it's the one i'm thinking about, then your grandkids will get some fun out of it until it shakes itself to bits, but the plus side is you'll have a spare engine for your whipper snipper

all in all, $300 isn't much to spend to find out if quad riding is something your grandies want to do, and if they like it, then get their parents to buy them the real deal lol, you become the fave grandparent but mum and dad foot the bigger bill, i like your thinking

good response Triple "A", I probably wont need a spare whipper snipper motor for a while, recently got a new stihl, but on account of me having a interest in large RC aeroplanes i may be able to adapt the pocket quad engine into one of those, whats the worst that can happen ?........... dont answer that.

these bikes are great for the liitle ones,its when the bigger ones,ie adults have ago you then lose the clutch burns out and then bend frames Soooooo all good just keep the big kids off. Then if the kids love it go buy a polaris 50 safest on the market and tough as old boots i have had a 50 scrambler and predator for tha last 6 years ,looked after them and they still go like new except the kids out grew them. kids just want to ride not watch dad fix them.

the new mini quad was delivered today................................so far i have to say ...i`me impressed, the build quality isnt too bad , i put it together, wheels on,mudguards on,handlebars on, i did lube all the cables and suspension pivot points and wheel bearings and re-routed some of the cables and generally give it a good "once over", aligned the back axle, give her a quick wheel alingment and a polish ... the suspension is virtually non existant, i sat on it (75 kg) and it sunk about 2mm but you know,the kids wont care, hav`nt started it yet, will try that bit tomorrow, ya even get a tool kit and about 50 bucks worth of bubble wrap and a good hefty cardboard box to put ya fire lighting sticks in so all in all so far so good.... BUT that may all change with a bit of time, will let you all know how it goes with a youngster on board.

Hi x factor... I wonder if you asked the question with a smirk on ya dial , as i would..... obviously expecting the big china quad to be in the garbage bin Well.. it`s not yet, now let me see...what have i done to it...hmmmmmmm....would be quicker to tell what i hav`nt done,, apart from all the stuff i did when i assembled it, well i did all that again with special attention to the back axle and the alingment, pulled all the bearings out and actually put some greas in them, took out the steering shaft and did the same, all the axle spacer on the back i chucked them in the lathe and faced them all off square, took all the runout outa the rear sprocket, replaced the (last for ten minutes) fuel line, adjusted all the three state of the art disk brakes , took the slide outa the carb and took the HQ V8 Holden front coil spring outa it and replaced it with one outa a combi van, took the spark plug out and threw it at the cat then put a NGK in it , ummmm... ...ummmmm oh yeah, i did this remote controll thing ....i was getting worn out chasing the kids around ready to kill the enging so i manufactored a radio controll kill switch , got one of me old aero trannies,(FUTABA) a 36MHZ receiver and a good RC servo and a large micro switch and mounted all that on a nice bit of aluminium plate, bolted it all under the seat so when the littlens get somewhat exited i can sit back with the transmitter and instanially kill the engine from a kilometer away, hows that for ingenuity (smartness) SO ... so far its going all-rite, the kids like it , having fun, gives me something to do so so far so good I will say... if someone bort one that didnt know much about stuff, slapped it together, didnt do anything to it at all, couldnt care what the kids done to it , it wouldnt last long , but with some work here and there and some ( a lot ) of maintinance , it should last a while, ime happy with it at this stage....
