yamaha warrior won't start

hi all

just wondering if any of you's would know whats wrong

i've got a 2002 yamaha 350cc warrior what the problem is when i turn the key on it won't wind over by the start button i also have no netural light but when i get a screw driver and join the positive and negitive on the round solinoid under left hand side rear gaurd it starts.

any help/sugestions on what it is or could be would be great

will it start if wind over and start if you pull the clutch in? im thinking maybe the wires have came off the sensor that pick up weather it is in gear or not.

if i roll start it it starts nicely and if i pull the clutch in and the conect the positive and negitive on that round solinoid it starts

Hey had a problem like this with my old girl it was a broken battery lead. Maby you need to check your battery leads for wear and tear.

Does power come from your starter solenoid when the key is in the start position? If not you could have a dead solenoid, if power isn't getting to the solenoid you could have a problem with the switch.
Time to get the multi meter out.

ok i have replaced starter slonoid and the green relay it will start now sometimes but also now its blowing the netueral and reverse light globes.

how can i test the regulator rectifer to tell if that is the problem???

If the voltage is 14 volts or higher, she is cactus.

do you find that out by putting multimeter on the battery while the bike is going?

Yeah
Normal is:
Engine off 12.2-12.5v
Engine running (raised rpm) 13.2-13.8v

cool thanks for that, looks like the regulator is stuffed when turned off it reads at 27.7 when bike is running it reads 30.8
