Hi, I have an 07 YFZ450 that I bought cheap for my boys but unfortunately it has a melted piston (yes thats what happens when previous owner forgets to put oil in it after oil change) Can someone advise me as to what is the best option is here. By the look of the bore it has a lot of melted piston stuck to the bore. The piston is std size 94.95 mm so can I buy a 96mm kit and rebore the barrel ?? is this as easy as it sounds ?? or do these have a special coating etc which may stop me from doing this.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated

Cheers Ian

From what I have heard from other guys with YFZ's it would probably just be cheaper to buy a new big bore kit, like an Athena or Ice Cube, especially with the dollar so good at the moment.
I could be wrong though, wouldn't be the first time. Laughing

You can get a stock bore or 98mm Cylinder Works top end kit for $400 US. It has cylinder, piston kit, and top end gaskets. Renikasiling the cylinder just isn't worth the cost and time involved. PM me if you are interested.
