Already has -full system ,k/n filter 155 main jet , seems abit flat on the beach when we replaced the slip on with full system - it seems down on torque / low to mid range - but starts ok and runs smoove .Not sure whether to get bigger jets or look at needle set up as well.any suggestions from beach users preferably .

You will lose torque/ mid range with a full system. Generally, full systems have larger diameter headers . Smaller diameter headers promote torque, larger more revs. The people you got it off should have told you that, but they probably didn't know.

I remember reading on another forum that the larger diameter header pipe (within Reason) will give you better torque. Reason being, when you are accelerating having a larger diameter exhaust allows more flow, the engine can rev out quicker, but when you start to get into the higher revs the flow increases to much and the engine starts scavenging, causing less top end. So basically, larger header diameter, faster reving, more snappy power/ torque. And then with a slightly smaller header diameter the flow will remain more constant when the engine is reving and everything is flowing fast.
Sounded sort of strange to me at fist but it makes sense. Smile

Mick, you've got it all backwards. John is correct in saying a larger diameter header will reduce bottom end torque. This is why high quality full systems will have a stepped header. The first section will be similar size to standard ( or even smaller like the GYTR full system I just fitted to an 07 YFZ) to keep or improve bottom end torque with the second larger section to improve flow at higher rpm and increase top end hp. Just goes to show. Do not beleive anything you read on any other forum Laughing

After an hour riding , We went another full turn - to 3 1/2 on the mixture -what a difference -running sweet as on the beach and nailed pagey's hill - plenty of torque and power .Worth the $99 spent at hardimans Wink .
