If we can get outside organisations to assist with Flagging would you be willing to pay up to an extra $10/entry for this

I like how you felt that you had to specify "FULL bottles of beer".

i believe that you should supply a flagie what happens when you hurt your self and need to drive home ?
better roster system open for every one to see for the whole year !
fair share of time for every one to help and be recorded who has done what !
no flagie no ride simple !
my opinion only no lawyers required _________________ SA quad & motorcylce club member !

There are pros and cons Jumbo...
i believe that you should supply a flagie what happens when you hurt your self and need to drive home ?
If you crash in practice and dislocate your thumb or something, if you don't sit there and watch the whole day in pain, i guess you would be taking your flaggie home with you to do the driving.
better roster system open for every one to see for the whole year !
Not many people can commit to a whole year of racing up front. work bike breakages, family issues etc. So these riders that cant go on any particular day obviously won't be taking a flaggie. For me a roster system might work for 1 in 10 events (as it did last year).
fair share of time for every one to help and be recorded who has done what !
Generally agreed, but it's not a finger pointing game. Some people contribute a lot and/or are happy to pay... but can't supply a flaggie.
no flagie no ride simple !
= no flagies = no rides and therefore = no events.
So the organisers are doing the right thing in trying to find the easiest possible solution for everyone.
Not trying to shoot you down mate, just showing some examples of how there is another side of the coin for just about every scenario.
Also 250 people might read this thread from all over the country and some interstaters interested in the topic might have read it 5 times each.
perhaps the 18 votes you have recieved is 100% of every SA Motocrosser out there who actually visits this forum.
That's a great result _________________ Can-Am X Team

we are more than happy to pay because it would allow us to concentrate and enjoy watching our girls and others.
I might even give Jumbos another go but that means Mike would need to buy me a bike!!! _________________ If you're not having fun, it's not worth doing

I would be happy to pay $10 extra to not have to supply my own flaggy if it was an option but I've never baulked at bringing someone along to flag for me either.
A few things to consider though:
Do you charge every rider the levy (inc juniors) or would it be per senior/family? For a family with 3 or 4 racing this could add up if per rider?
It is a very long day to stand out a flag all day for one person (we don't crash all that often and it's usually either dusty or raining) - when talking to outside groups to do this I would recommend they have enough people to rotate people so they get a break. We want them to want to do it again.
We have been let down in the past by groups who have said they will do it and pull out at the last minute leaving us with no flaggies days before an event.
Will we get enough entries at every round to meet the paid flaggies cost so the club is not out of pocket? ie payment to a group should be linked to entries not a fixed amount.
Also if you supply someone (partner/family member) to perform an important role like scoring/timekeeping/officiating on the day are you exempt of the flaggy levy? _________________ Proud Member of QuadridersSA

We are happy to pay per rider (possibly x3) and not per family but I do see your point
With the CFS that pulled out last year I suppose thats the risk we take by getting an emergency service and then having wild and woolly weather in the weeks leading up to an event. Perhaps local sporting clubs would be an option especially in the country as they are always looking to raise money eg Renmark, ACUSA, Whyalla and Crystal Brook. As an idea, if a netball club was approached it could be a way for the DADS/PARTNERS of the players to have a day out to raise money to show their support without having to watch! _________________ If you're not having fun, it's not worth doing

I would rather pay for a flaggie, we would have to drag an extra person each to every event (800-1000k round trip) makes car pooling hard to save on fuel _________________ Has turned to the Dark Side! |

a few years ago, mick from 47 organised the razorbacks gridiron club to do some flagging for us
i believe this was relatively successful for metro tracks, but a bit difficult at the country ones, |

Good idea. In rural areas, volunteer organisations such as SES, VRA and rural fire brigades are always looking to raise their profile, and funds in the local community. That also might worth looking into. _________________ Remember. We elect politicians, but we have to deal with bureaucracy.
