For my year 11 design tech project I am going to make a frame for the top of my 6x4 trailer, because with one set of rims on the rear end wont fit and hopefully it will have some wider a-arms on it soon and the front won't fit either. I will then be able to put my spare tyres, gear, tools and jerry can underneath as well. I'm planning on having slide out ramps that come out from a box section under where the actual quad sits. Just haven't put them in this design yet. Photobucket cut a bit off it too but you can still see it.
Has anyone else got pics and or designs of what they did? Also any hints or tips for me with it.

i have an 8x6 trailer and a boilermaker mate built a frame that sits on top. you can fit two quads on the trailer sideways. the frame also has drop in poles which allow it to slide upwards with a pull out awning to provide a nice large tented area when the bikes are off the trailer. it provides a great setup for camping with bikes.

heres some photos of the trailer in action

(its the blue tarp section)

9not high quality but a closer view)

Yeah the kx is a pretty sweet machine. He blew a hole in the piston at gas dash so she's just had another rebuild at which time my mate worked out a previous owner has bored it out. Goes like the clappers!

Good onya Feral, we used to have a tandem set up like that. Good project and as you can see most people load sideways as we did to fit two quads up there or tie other gear down such as swags etc.

Also good to cover the whole trailer for added security so no hands can get in and steal anything.

Have also seen one on a friends trailer with a secure chain welded front and rear to padlock the quad on.

Hope this helps and good luck with your project.

the other thing to consider with your setup feral is too ensure that you can still open the rear tailgate of the trailer when it is loaded. this way you can still get your extras into and out of the main part of the trailer
