I reckon the 80 will fill pretty quick.

The 2011 Tattersall's Finke Desert Race will be the biggest yet, with the entry limit in the bike division (including quads and sidecars) increased to 550. A cap of 80 has also been introduced onto the quad entries.
"The Finke Desert Race committee decided on the increase in entries due to the overwhelming number of entries received for the 2010 Tattersall's Finke Desert Race", said Club President, Antony Yoffa.
"There were over 600 entries received in total for last year's race with over 100 of them having to go onto the waitlist. The 550 limit will see a 10% increase in the size of the bike field which includes the quads and sidecars", said Yoffa.
The increase has been a hot topic since the race reached its limit of 500 bikes in 2008.
Bike entries for the 2011 Tattersall's Finke Desert Race will open on Australia Day, Wednesday 26 January 2011.
The 2011 Tattersall's Finke Desert Race will be held from 10 to 13 June in Alice Springs.

Hmmmm I would be dissapointed if I was luke...and Polaris. In the extras a great shot of Luke riding towards the finish.
Can am got their brand up again... I suposed they were 1st loser ...or like in 2009 double podium losers
Where is the the respect for the winner gone?
Cars and bike winners got good coverage.
The 80 cap is good for our sport...Just think about it before u get going...
Finke is the biggest Race in Aus ... The only true pro riders in Aus past and present win Finke.
IF I was young rider looking for a future... Get your Finke entry in.

Mick the amount of quads in is not to bad ...generally speaking..
some poor bugger pushing his polaris accross the line...
plently of ktms and others just can't pick who they are.

It is unfortunate that the Quad crew aren't wanted , much less celebrated but hey we are slowly getting more popular. That is shown by the capping of our numbers as the finke commitee are fearful we will eventually be the dominant entrant.
Rumour is that this year will be the last anyway due to a new mine opening just short of Finke so maybe it wont matter anyway??!!
I'll be there with my two wheeler mate as we have unfinished business If worst comes to worse I'll ride my KTM 200EXC |

The Cap is a good thing for Quads . think about it.
Don't stress John ...You ride a Can am ....I'm sure Can am are working hard behind the scences trying to change the rules ...Or trying to get somebody in their pocket... Not sure it works in NT lol ....
Just remember to enjoy riding and you'll be a winner.... Cheat and Karmer get you metres from the finish...lol

BWAAAHAHAHA i crashed(aka got taken out) after the finish line after losing 20mins cutting a dudes broken hand out of his glove and helping him get to Ambo's so where was my Karma? My elbow is still half rooted, thanks to some rec riders stupidity. He got to ride home and collect his spike.
I dont mind who is behind the scenes greasing wheels so long as it facilitates more riding it has to be a good thing. In the crappy world market it is amazing that a new commer is spending big to get things happening when the big names are all pulling in their horns and cutting spending. Even superstar Joe Bird lost his Honda support package.
Sure the way it works may not be to everyones liking but hey thats business.

Just a note..
If your thinking about Finke.. I predict it will be full within 10 days of opening entries online.
It will require you paying for entry and food and fuel UP FRONT when you enter.
Just be prepared for the 26th of Jan.
We dont really have 80 spots ... If 550 bikes get their entries in before a single quad we get none.... does that explain it ..
