does anyone know anything about the Kolpin or Tamarack range of bags / boxes ? Whose got one ?? are they any good ? do they fit ? are the soft bag type ones the best ?? how much are they here in oz ?? lots of questions but if ya dont ask ... ya dont know i guess .
I wouldnt mind like a big bag thingie with compartments to go on the back rack , only got a cheap box ATM and there is not enough room for goodies. So was lookn at Austraco site but ya get all confused as to whats what. The soft bags look ok but are the sides of em all soft and squishie or do they sorta keep their shape or what, or are they no good ? Those big hard box jiggers that wrap round are maybe ok but i wonder if you would bust em while you kick em every time you get on and going under trees and stuff???? another thing, the fuel filler on me bike is down the back on the back guard, i guess that couldnt be covered up eh.
Any thoughts people ?? |

| Thanks Grizzly , had a look at the thread on Tamarack stuff, yeah , looks good , what is the rifle bag thing that the others got ? The box i had on my bike still left enough room in front of it on the rear rack to mount Mad Dog gun mounts and the rifle sat on there good , only had to reach round and grab it , the bag you have sorta takes up the whole back rack and there would be not enough room for my rifle , so whats this gun bag thing they make ?Is it like a normal gun bag ? But yeah , the bag looks awsome, just what i need, |

Hi TonyB,
We have both the Tamarack cargo and gun bags, and I've got to say very happy with them, and the price and service from Austraco when Andrew finally got them landed.
The rifle bag is a bit smaller than the cargo bag and is about the same size as the front bag. It is designed to carry the rifle enclosed from the elements in a large sock kind of thing on a very well padded soft lid. The link below will give you more info.
http://www.tamarackatv.com/products_bags_front.html
Both bags go on and off fairly easily through 6 buckles, are pretty easy too work with and clean. Good gear. _________________ Remember. We elect politicians, but we have to deal with bureaucracy.

thanks Dino, had a look at the link you sent me , I am thinking you can put the gun in the whole bag , just undo the lid and chuck it in there , so to speak , i was thinking that it was like a proper gun bag, it would be a pain to get out in a hurry if you had to if that was the case , but yeah, that front bag looks good , i will get in touch with Andrew at AUSTRACO and get a back and front .
So was that right , you undo the big lid on the bag and just place ya weapon in there ?
Thanks for your help , it helps when someone else has got or used whatever you are interested in . |

I've put some pics up for you TonyB
I find the bag does a great job keeping the gun safe for long transport periods, while riding. But for quick use, I'll sling it over my shoulder or do like in the last picture. Drink holder and extra outside bag are very handy.....for a can of fanta and the camera of course!
The gun bag closed
Inside the bag, the partitions can be moved or removed.
This is the sock thingy under the flap...
As designed to keep the gun out of the dust and weather.
This is what I think you asked....
If you want your gun quick to get to, you could do this also.
Hope this helps Tony. _________________ Remember. We elect politicians, but we have to deal with bureaucracy.

Great stuff Dino, Thanks for the pics, that helps heaps , i can see how things work, nice looking bags, nice looking rifle as well , is it a T3 Tikka ?
Good thing about the bags is you can take em off easily by the look of it , and heaps of room for stuff, like " fanta" although ime partial to coke zero ,
anyway, thanks again, i will get some on the way from Austraco... |
