What do you all prefer to run and why? I've read on other sites that some people say the K&Ns are no good in really dusty conditions.
Whats your opinion. _________________ "If in doubt go flat out"

Run foam in the dust up here, K&N isnt fine enough in its filtering for the bulldust, K&N is great for speedway, motorcross and anywhere the track is watered. _________________ Has turned to the Dark Side! |

Ive used K&N filters in my Banshee at Finke for the last 2 years, after pulling the engine down after the 1st finke its was clean as, after a quick hone and new pistons it was good to do another season of MX and another run at Finke.
I did run outerwears on them aswell.
And i have used uni filters in the sand and after a big ride in the dunes took the filter off to clean it and found sand particals behind the filter in the carbys.. _________________ He Who Dies With The Most Toys, Wins

great question feral........i dont know which is better but i got sick to death of the the foam filters falling apart over time, the K&N is worth the extra money, i dont know about the dust factor as its not an issue for me, i only go out & play in the wet _________________ 04 TRX 450r

All we have here is dust, dust, and more dust...oh..and we sometimes have dust too. Everyone of the guys we ride with are running K&N filters and lids off without any problems , but we all have outerwears fitted as well. _________________ I'm not suffering from insanity, I'm enjoying it!!! |

Sounds like I will go with a foam one just to be on the safe side of things, can't afford to be dusting an engine. Will probably run a outerwears or some sort of pre-filter on it too. _________________ "If in doubt go flat out"

I run K&N with Outerwear and love the easy maintenance vs foam.
Both K&N & foam are crap if you don't properly clean, oil & maintain them.
If I had to answer which is best in extreme conditions I would say foam. _________________ Don't close your eyes during the crash, you'll miss the best part |
