Hi all, i am thinking of promoting a trip for each state in oz for the cancer foundation called QUADS FOR CANCER, i am planning to contact each state for support in numbers to assisst with the trip , The trip will comprize of quad riders in each state to ride from the capital city in their state to the capital city in the next state and passing on the batton to go around Australia , both my parents have cancer and i am sure with much regret that there are other Quad riders that have friends or family with this trerrible illness so i would like to help to the cause to find a cure.

The next step is for my self to contact the cancer foundation for their permission, and contact the local authorities in each state to get permits to be on local roads,
if any information can be given to assisst in this it would be appreciated
Regards
Neil Hood

do you have a contact for the cance people so if anyone out of your state can speak to them about their own state arrangements, if that makes sense at all.

Hey Hoody, to do the trip we would need an escort from the police as our quads do not have blinkers etc and our quads are not ADR approved for on road plus maybe some kind of insurance.

I'm not being a downer but it is some things to look at mate.

Dave

Great idea Hoody,

I think we can get ball rolling in NT we have 2300 km from Kunannurra to Darwin back to Qld Border. Maybe sponsored 100 km legs ie Min sponsorship $1000.00 per 100 k so we could organise 23 riders or teams
etc I will PM you later

yeah would need drivers licence
spoke to a higway patrol officer today from newcaslte area command and he said we need to have a step by step, turn by turn list of streets and roads we will be riding on, the times we leave and plan to arrive, the (exact from what i understood from his words) number of riders, the towns we will go thru, we can not do this on any holidays including long weekends, not to travel through any peak hour traffic (middle of sydney etc) and we can use any escort vehicle long as its appropriatly marked. But yet to talk to the RTA here to find out about the permits required.

I have just contacted the NSW police they have put me onto www.rta.nsw.gov.au reading there website it states that you can get an unregistered vehicle permit up to 28 days of use.
it was mentioned that the council in NSW have there quads registered so with a bit of luck and kindness they will allow the NSW guys obtain the same , i shall make inquirys tomorrow. A kind suppoter of this foram has a tele conference number he is willing to put forward heis planning on putting it up so we can can have a tele conference from a couple of people in each state that are willing to control things in each state.
I do want to thanks to everyone who has read the foram about this trip its for a good cause
Hoody,
by the way i ride a TGB 425 Blade
