Hi fellow ATV'ers
I have this Banshee which appears to have broken something in first gear or the clutch.
problem is when in 1st gear you cant roll more than a few feet before something locks up SOLID!!!
Cant find neutral either- running engine or not.
Bike seems to ride fine in all other gears.
???????????????????????????????
I am about to take the engine out to strip the box and find out whats going on, but first I thought it might be worth hearing if anyone out there has had this happen.
Let me know if you know..... or if anyone in S.E. Queensland is keen for a look let me know as from what I read in the book if I do take the engine out I need some special tools to strip it.
Cheers

Could be a few different things
like
1st gear selector ...have you landed from a jump with your foot on the gear lever ? (bent)
could be first or 5th gear cog s them self or even your selector itself
I have spares if you need some . |

Hi Ashnery
Thats interesting, have you worked on these before? If so have you much knowledge on them? Can I find this out without stripping the entire unit? My son was on it when it broke he may have been down shifting back to first without clutch but he assures me he wasnt- this was my first thought as it made sense to me.
Where are you located?
What bits do you actually have?
How much?
PM me if you want.
Cheers

Thanks for the heads up Ash. This is the exact type of information I have been seeking. The Banshee is at my workshop at the moment so as soon as I get chance I will be pulling that side cover off and having a look. If not during the week I will check it out over the weekend.
Your location doesnt phase me- I use transoprt companies for freight accross Australia everyday. Even if I couldnt make it there is always a way to get the stuff there.
Will keep ya's posted.
Cheers

I would just replace the carbs with a set i have and see if it fixes the prob ,if it does we open yours up and see whats going on .If it does not fix your prob we start looking else where ...
what are your mods ?
what is your pilot jet ?
what is your main jet ?
what is your filter std ?
wheres your needle at and number?
are your reeds completly shuting?
do you have an air leak ?
thats why we swap carbs first its the quickest way . |

The tors set up is nothing but painful
at the end of the day all it does is takes play out of the cable adjusts the idle via tightning the cable and sends a of siginial to the ecu when slides are down
The actual carbs themselves dont have any idle adjustment without the tors
In my opion get a tors elimnater kit it will be the best money you spend and adjust the idle at the new cap .
if you put those jets in i told you you will most definatly fix your troubles..ash |
