the only thing i have a problem with (like most ppl would) is that it completely goes against what the manufacturers say. why is it that yamaha and other manufacturesrs for that matter have not realised this them selves seeing as they are engineers? just seems a bit weird to me, unless they do it to sneakily screw ur bike so u gotta go back to them and spend more money , wouldnt surprise me lol _________________ YFZ 450SE .... oh yeah!

Suppose that’s why the article say’s it’s a delicate & controversial issue..
and the manufacturers can't tell you to go-hard straight-up
specially with these machines,,, and especially...... How Odd No Dam Acceleration
.
Your only issue would be,,, the remote chance, you blew-it-up this method.
and it was a Jet Ski or Snowmobile that had the computer memory and the shop diagnostic told a story of you red lining it constantly and going berserko for the first 10 minutes
Dunno if the EFI Zook LTR’s have this puta technology.
Your O.K. with the YFZ
.
Don’t go ridiculous
Go hard,,, in a straight line,,,hang-on and don’t effin fall-off

Pretty much my break in method too. dont baby it and dont bounce it of the rev limiter and it'll all be good. also don't forget to change the oil oand filter often while you on your first couple of tanks of fuel. fair bit of swarf will come out of your gearbox and clutch when it's new. _________________

Have been running in engines for years and the two most critical things that are mentioned are:
1) WARM IT UP FIRST! ABSOLUTELY CRITICAL!
2) LOAD IT UP TO SEAT THE RINGS. You don't have to rev the "profanity removed" out of it but go full throttle and short shift ( say at 70% to 80% of max revs ) the first 10 to 20 minutes.
I guess the reason the manufacturers say go easy is because most people ignore rule number 1 and this is a way of letting the thing warm up on the go but is not good practice.
You really want the pistons and bores at opperating temp ( rule 1 ) so they have expanded to the correct shape before loading the rings ( rule 2 ). And for gods sake, always warm up the engine before a ride or race. The dammage caused by hammaering a cold engine are huge, so a little bit of warm up time means less repair time and more power for much longer. _________________ When I'm racing I'm living..... everything else is just waiting. |
