Hey,

I've got a '08 Banshee, bought it about 3 weeks ago. It's just had a top end rebuild done.
The first ride I took it on was good apart from it boggin down at low revs.

Unfortunatly me not having the most experience (yet) on this sort stuff. I went and saw my old boys mate who tuned the carbys and gave em a clean.
So I went for a ride just the other day, it ran sweet for bout an hour then I heard it sound different when I stopped,I
Noticed that ancylinder dropped out, so I packed up went home now when I start it both cylinders run for a little while but the left one that cut out before is now blowing white grey smoke it's not heaps though. Then eventually cutting out. Is it fowling? I've asked around a bit as to what to do. And gotta bunch of different answers. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I'd love to try do the work myself if possible to get to no my bike. So yeah
Any pointers or anything?
Cheers Matt

Check the compression. Sounds like you could have a blown or leaking head gasket.
Also check that the cross-over tube between the carbies is still attached. Look down from above the carbs and see if there is a little black rubber hose about two inches long going from one carb to the other about half way up the carb. Its straight on the opposite side of your choke.
Most people that (sausage) with the carbs and don't know about the tube do not reconnect it.

when its running on 1 cylinder stop the engine and take the plugs out. clean them and swap side to side or replace them with new 1s and start it again,

just see what happenes.

I found this wrong with a banshee one time at the dunes (he re-build the motor him self ), the slides in the carby (stock)got mixed up and the left one was in the right carby, backwords,

the quad ran ok from mid to top but nothin down low.

on the side of the carby at the top is a small glass window , push the throttle to flat out (quad not running) and you should see a dot on the slide show up in the window.

hope you find the problem.

cheers for the feedback guys.

i just check the slide window on the carby's, the dot on both carbys are coming through the window at the same time, but and passing just before full throttle. at full open there is np dot visable, just a fraction before theyre both there

could this be an issue?

swap the plug leads from side to side, this will rule out coil/electrical if the problem stays on the same side or carby/intake if it switches side

Could even be a spark plug seeing as the second time you started it the engine ran on two cylinders and then dropped back to one again sometimes when spark plugs crap out they will work again when cold and stop once a bit of temperature gets into them, the same can be said for the coil as previousley stated swap the leads around as the CDI works on a wasted spark system and fires at TDC and BDC so the bike will still run, but if the problem persists the other cylinder will cut out instead of the one that is now and if thats the case dispose of one crappy coil.

I agree with 1 sick 6 ,

I had similar problem with mine , miss fire on the left side

swap plug leads see if the problem follows ?? , mine didnt , ive got after market 30mm D-slider carbs so i swapped them over still didnt follow ???
many lost hours and much heartache, it turned out , the left side nipped up a ring "but it still had good compression"

If it was me I would pull down the top end for a look , peice of mind for the cost of a gasket kit

If ya still stuck might wanna take a look at another forum www.bansheehq.com , lost track of how many times it helped me out

Good luck :O)
