i believe the word is metal locks {is stead of nylon they have a metal lock ring } they have a smooth washer surface like on two stroke barrels they are the right pitch thread for japanese bikes

I have always run nylocks on my quad. I use them with flat washers behind them. It has Douglas alumin(i)um wheels and has always been used on sand. Thay have always worked perfectly and there is minimal marking to the al wheels.

you can get nyloc/metal lock nut in any thread. so as for use on your rim's any nut will do. we use nyloc nuts on aircraft so there nothing wrong with them hey

and the metal one's your talking about are flanged nuts with the metal locking ring (usually stock fitment on bikes) which can be ordered in most metric pitch form's.

Advantage of metal is that they can be used in high temp area's.

nylon it a bit of an over kill for atv wheels, i have never had one fall off with the standard nuts. thats with 10 years of racing and riding.

i did however have nylon ones once on my LTR, more of a pain in the arse to get them off as you couldn't just crack them and then wind them off with your hands.
