I will post some images of my bead breaker later today. Much easier to make than that one and works everytime.

That one looks like its gouges the snot out of the rim. Looks like a great muscle training aide though.

It does look a good portable tool if you only have to use it every so often. I looked at it like I use mine every day. I would end up with muscles in my s***. The one I have would only have around $60 worth of material and 3-4 hours labour. I will get the photos up when the guy who borrowed it drops it back.

the red one at top is similar to mine and they work a treat

as u can break bead and take the tyre off all with one item

using tyre levers is old fashioned and time consuming

i changed both my rears in under 15 mins including taking wheels off quad

I have changed hundreds of tyres over 10 years with this. You can bolt it to the floor, bench leg or use as is. It is easily adjustable for different size wheels and would be easy as buggery to make. If anyone wants some measurements, PM me.

Looks Good John,I must admit tyre plyers are good as a portable fix but they do gouge the rim if your not really careful .

I've found the "tyreplier" type a bit hit and miss, on a newish tyre they work OK but forget about a tyre that has done a bit of work or has been on the rim for a long period of time.

The narrow with of the claws has the potential to cut into a tyre. for that reason I would Try and use one that is more like the Red one if you can.

You may have the wrong ones mate when I got mine he asked what I was using them for and i told him ATV's and he said he put speical wings on the ATV ones to widen them and I haven't had a prob. I made one like the red one once and it just wouldn't work but remember i'm a dairy farmer not an engineer ha ha ha

I found that the best way is to turn the Bead breaker on a bit of an angle when you are pushing down on the tyre so that the edge of the breaker bites in to the tyre more and it seems to make a big difference,i am pretty sure in 2005 Tyrepliers made the ends wider to make it easier to get the tyre off.
